Worryingly, that sounds like Telewest might've blocked those access numbers.Wannabe_Saver wrote:I'm with Telewest and dial 18866's 08081707788 or 08081701701 for cheap calls but today, 4 July, recorded messages told me neither number was recognised. Have they gone or changed their numbers, I looked on the site but no info.
However, I think the lack of reply in over a day since I posted shows that either that is not the case or - and this is much more likely - those with Telewest lines use 1899's access numbers instead - because they charge 3p connection and 0p/minute for UK 01/02 calls whereas 18866 charge(d) 2p connection and 0.5p/minute.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
I'm not sure - so I would like confirmation from a more experienced moneysaver, but I think the following seems to be best!!
1 Just Dial Saver Lite - free CPS service gives free (up to 2hr) UK landline calls evenings and weekends,
2 18866 for daytime UK landline calls free +2p connect (and many international land & mobile calls are v.cheap)
3 1899 for weekday mobile calls 10p +3p connect
4 18866 for weekend mobile calls 3p +2p connect
5 BT for nasty 0845 and 0870 numbers
Can anyone please put me right if this is out of date or wrong at all!!!
Cheers0 -
Sorry I forgot to ask if anyone knows if 1280 is the correct code to use BT for all CPS services?
I'm really looking for the Just Dial Saver one! but am interested if it is universal.0 -
I have a BT landline and OneTel CPS and 1280 is the code I use to hop back onto BT for my (very occasional) 0845 calls.kaydee wrote:Sorry I forgot to ask if anyone knows if 1280 is the correct code to use BT for all CPS services?

I've trawled abit more and can amend my own post! but don't let that stop anyone putting me right please!
3 Dialwise for mobile weekday calls at 4p per minute
5 Dialwise for Daytime 0845 calls at 2p per minute
BT for evenings and weekends 1p per min
5 Dialwise for weekday 0870 calls at 5p per minute
BT for evening 3.35p and weekend 1.5p 0870 calls
Confused - I know I am.....!0 -
The only comment I'd make is I'd never heard of Just Dial Saver Lite CPS but if you're getting free weekend and evening calls ..........
A bit of Googling revealed they're owned by OneTel, part of the Centrica group.
Their JustDialSaverLite CPS looks better than my StandardUKTalk from OneTel (although I get free 118111 calls).Just-Dial is a service division of Telco Global Ltd which has been acquired by One.Tel, a Centrica business.
In Great Britain it operates through two consumer brands, British Gas and One.Tel
As far as I can tell, you've cracked it!Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").

Sorry - don't know how to post an active link, but the web address for Just Dial saver is:
http://www.justdialsaver.com
Please give it a look over and see if I've read it wrong - they've been my CPS for ages, recommended by Martin a fair time back!
uuh the site made it active when I posted it !!!
and following your edit, I've checked and it still invites you to join Just Dial!0 -
As with kaydee I've been a Just Dial Saver since Martin first recommended it way back when, without any real problems. It is worth noting that they offer the following: "Calls to UK mobiles are capped at a maximum of £0.20 off-peak, £0.15 weekend for up to 20 minutes, the normal pence per minute rate then applies. Calls costing less than £0.20 off-peak, £0.15 weekend will be charged as standard." I haven't checked it out but it seems worthwhile.
My only problem at the moment is that as promised, all UK calls at the weekend are free (i.e. no connection charge either) but they are still charging me 3.8p +VAT for evening calls which they seem to claim should be free. As their only access method is e-mail, I have e-mailed twice so far and my messages have been bounced as 'undeliverable' both times. I'll get it sorted but it's a bit frustrating as it takes several days for the system to declare the message undeliverable for reasons unknown.
However, aside from that, it's been a good, reliable service and a useful one to fall back to instead of BT.0 -
I have just checked and as with Dustsucks I have found that they are charging me for calls in the evening - despite their web site definitely saying that evening calls up to 2 hours are Free on Just Dial Saver Lite.
I too have fired of the e-mail to customer services that is the only way to contact them and await an answer!
Perhaps this is the bit that looked too good to be true with this offer?!!!!!0 -
I was just checking my BT bill and saw the entry 118866....00:00:07....£1.30
Blimey, I thought, BT must really hate 18866 to try and charge me £1.30 for a 7 second call!
I was just getting up a head of complaining steam when I noticed the extra 1 at the front and remembered finding myself talking to a directory enquiries line and saying 'Sorry, wrong number.' and hanging up.
I've just looked up 118 866 on the net and they have a £1.50 minmum charge! I got off lightly - perhaps because I didn't use the service.
I'd be surprised if I'm the only one this has happened to, but be warned - dial carefully!
