£500 for a new toilet?

After reading most of the posts saying about whether the price is high, doesnt matter, the flat is HOUSING ASSOC therefore it should be FREE, contact the Housing association tell them you need a new toilet, they should send someone out to look over it, and see whats needs doing, then either get on with the job there and then, or get back to their bosses telling them whats required and then they should send someone out to get the parts required and then come round after arranging a time to come, and will do the job.
A toilet at your local B&Q cheap is £49.98 http://www.diy.com/nav/rooms/bathrooms/takeaway-bathrooms/takeaway_toilets/Plumbsure-Newbury-Toilet-White-H-745-x-W-375-x-D-660mm-10567837 see link. but your Housing Assocation so it should be FREE, free parts, free labour, they get paid by the H.A as its their trades men.0 -
I bet the OP regrets posting the question on here now......0

I tend to agree. I see two childish posts from earlier on which I did not have time to deal with at the time have since vanished which saves me the bother of replying to them too.I bet the OP regrets posting the question on here now......

One final update.
Mum has decided to throw in a few more things and got a quote from a 3rd person.
The job is now new toilet, new smaller sink, a little bit of tiling around the sink and hang a bathroom cabinet. For this the quote is £530 inclusive of VAT which seems to be much more reasonable. (well, at least I think so) Also this person has done a few jobs for neighbours and has good reports.
Just in regards to the housing association thing, mum owns half and rent other half.
Thank you all for your input, it has certainly been interesting reading!

bit of a difference from you and your wife saying £500 for a fixing down of a bog and sticking the pipe in isnt it
but then im not plumber builder or joist fitter
i am however someone who is a moneysaving expert and wont have my trousers pulled down to my ankles
OP photos not necessary but your post proves theres those that do the talk and those that go to work and do a decent job for a senible wage
i usually find the big shots drive animal pickups and are always on the phone rather than working, had one last week proffesional tow bar fitter, he said, charged the same as the established company in my local town but came to us on recommendation, didnt even have a decent toolbox or understand canbus

but to be fair thats not actually what they said is it?bit of a difference from you and your wife saying £500 for a fixing down of a bog and sticking the pipe in isnt it
Thats obvious or you wouldn't have suggested NMN.but then im not plumber builder or joist fitter
but very quick to be judgemental and make WAGs in the total absence of facts? FWIW I agree wholeheartedly that £ 500 seemed way OTT but then again I hadn't enough data against which to say so certainly not even to use the word "seem" let alone deliver outright condemnation.i am however someone who is a moneysaving expert and wont have my trousers pulled down to my ankles
and your partner in crime in the cheap shot corner (yes I saw those sily posts before they were removed) who suggested it was £ 300 at Preston prices where he is making "minimum wage" which I said was probably £ 350 at London prices so comparable? And I still think it was probably "£ 350 plus VAT lady" its just that nobody could do the VAT calc.but your post proves theres those that do the talk and those that go to work and do a decent job for a senible wage
Oh you mean the posermobiles. Happen to agree with you there. Look flash but totally unecessary and impracticablei usually find the big shots drive animal pickups
Oops.didnt even have a decent toolbox
Now thats a term I haven't heard in several years..........or understand canbus

But you can lease them as a company vehicle, claim the vat back, put the running cost against the company, tax as a goods vehicle, and it work out cheaper than a Fiesta.0 -
