Actually it translates to about a post every two days over 8 years. Compared to the "Joined yesterday to complain about the forum" brigade there's no comparison.
Please actually read what I wrote before trying to be clever.
Unlike you, happy clapper, I don't have to try to be clever

from what I read in the announcement the forum is going to remane pretty much unchanged , below is from the announcement Q & A
Q. What happens to the MoneySavingExpert.com Forum? There's no change to the forum, it will stay part of MSE and continue to run as normal. However, we hope to continue to develop the technology to make it better to use.
hope this helps0 -
I hope development in new tools and deal checkers won't slow or become too biased - as many have said, the site will probably become just one place people may check to see if they are getting the best deal.
Perhaps this is for the best though, if people are educated into the need to fully research and investigate purchases and financial commitments then Martin has still achieved his aim of making consumers much more aware.
As regards monetising regular forum posters contributions, it's worth noting that most forums on the internet do come with advertising which is essentially doing the same thing. Most people contribute on forums to help others and feel part of a community, there's no reason why that will change.
Tickety Split, btw is one of the most amazing tools I've ever seen been offered for free!0 -
I'm very pleased for Martin - the boy done good.
But I do think the site will now lose some of its independence and good reputation.
And no matter what the Editorial code says now, it doesn't prevent things changing in the future. If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -

The site is past its prime. Peak traffic numbers were way back in the beginning of 2011. On some boards there is hardly any users these days. A lot of posters have left the site - icelandic bank accoints and tuition fees haven't helped. It's quite possible moneysupermarket are getting a poor deal as a lot of posters will avoid the site now.0

In August 2008, the company via which Lewis owns the website changed from being a limited company Martin S Lewis Ltd to an unlimited company Moneysavingexpert.com.[20]
This form of company is relatively rare,[21]. It means that Lewis has unlimited personal liability for the company. However, the advantage of this arrangement to Lewis is that the company no longer needs to submit its accounts to Companies House and thus his earnings from the website are removed from the public domain and can be kept private

I suppose we shouldn't be too suprised at Martin's love of money, after all he was a city boy, and he carried on accepting money from the NOTW until the newspaper had to be closed.0 -

Can't really blame Martin. Makes sense to sell when the site is at a peak. I think anyone would do the same.
I do feel it's the end of an era though. MSE is such a great and unique service. I can't imagine that MS will realistically maintain strict impartiality regardless of what they say. The temptation to promote high commission products or plaster the site with ads will be too great in the long run. Unfortunately I think it's all downhill from here.0 -
Love the comments on here, soooo many displeased folks having to announce their departure from the website.Just don't come back if you are that disgusted/displeased/jealous,nobody is forcing you to stay!
I'm not bothered who Martin sold the website too or for how much,I'm very glad he didn't decide one day to pull the plug on the whole thing.
Think you gotta ask yourselves how much have you personally saved by coming on this website? Instead of being drama queens with your dramatic flounces and whining like a 2 year old who can't get their own way.
This is the Internet people, get off your backsides and sort your own lives out before tying that noose for Martin.0
