I believe this is not about money at all. I would say its more about cutting off information from the general public... which in the long run is worth loads more than £87 million.
I mean how do we know that martin wasn't threatened in some way.. or even his family. this site has (had) the potential to tread on some VERY big toes.
certainly I would never believed martin would do this voluntarily.
OK flame me.... but the truth is scarier than fiction. Also i would bet dollars to donuts that this deal went through over a year ago. just because us plebs only here of it now, means didely squat.0 -

Ha ha, HUKD is a more commercial website than MSE will ever be.
Also someone who I thanked but can't remember name - mentioned that this site may have been brought to eventually cut off information from the public - anyone else have a view on this?0 -
It's a sad day. I do feel it has been quite awhile since martin lewis cared about his users. I will cancel the newsletter, i don't want junk arriving in my in box and it will save me having to delete it.
Good luck everyone.0 -

Server costs for a site like this will be less than £100 a month for a fully managed dedicated server. Server costs for a site like this will be less than £100 a month for a fully managed dedicated server.
Bandwidth alone would cost a few quid (imo).

Quick question (because I haven't read the small print of the deal), does anyone know if the Forums are going to stay?
I know that the "site" is to remain the same, and Martin is meant to retain editorial control (until he gets p'd off and leaves), but do they mean the entire site or just the information section of the site? Do the forums actually get a mention in the deal?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

This site is my bible when it comes to savvy spending and researching my rights as a consumer, I always trusted it as unbiased, but now I'll have take the advice with a pinch of salt instead as gospel unbiased honest truth . I still think Martin Lewis is great and it's his site to do what he wants with at the end of the day , but as one of the other commenter s said it felt like this was 'our site' untouched by the fat cat, money grabbing, mega global, company's that don't give a hoot about the average Joe consumer out there. It's a sad day for this once 'very' independent website ( as there aren't many consumer websites that aren't in the pocket of one company or another ) .0
