Yup.. 3 years and then we all get spammed!! or no more links to other compare sites etc.0 -

What makes me sick is that this is a community forum, others post deals and not the staff or martin but he does take the credit.0

Can't believe how much grief you lot are giving Martin - good on him I say. He's made a fortune out of doing the decent thing and providing clear, honest, free financial advice to the masses. All without a single sponsor! And he's giving £10m of his initial £35m to charity! What a thoroughly decent chap.
I also don't really see why people think it won't be the same now it's owned by a 'big company'. It's the second-biggest affiliate marketing company in the country being bought by the biggest affiliate marketing company in the country… it's hardly like MSE was some tiny blog.
Likewise people saying he won't care now as he'll be rolling in money now - the site made him £16m last year!
Also - to those people complaining: can you really say that if you were in Martin's position, you would have turned down the offer?? No, didn't think so!!0 -

How much money have you invested into this website? Where was your input when the hosting was up for renewal, or the site went down and needed to be fixed immediately before the mob turned hostile?
You guys can swan in and out of the forums as you please, but at the end of the day he brought us here. He implemented this and it was HIS idea. So yea, he can now do with it whatever he pleases too.
If the apparent 'expert' forummers aren't happy that's he's taking all the credit for their work, I'd suggest go pull your savings and build and host your own website seeing how you're so sure this one is now doomed to failure.
Oh wait, that sounds like too much hard work? Shut up then.0 -
This is specifically what the Editorial Code ensures will continue to happen.
While Martin stays editor in chief that is.
If he walks, and who could blame him if there is a little Lewis on the way, then the editor in chief is responsible for the site, that editorial code is worthless if Martin walks.
He said Jnr is expected in November?
By Christmas the site could be completely different and just ram Moneysupermarket down everyones throat.
As I said before, I dont blame Martin for selling up, I would too (probably sooner tbh) but to say its for anything other than financial reasons is just taking us for mugs.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I find it a little odd that people are outraged, you don't think he set up this site out of the goodness of his heart do you?
An IP lookup shows that the site is hosted with a company called The Bunker who host their servers in a former UK government nuclear bunker, the hosting alone must cost them a few thousand a year.
Those who are complaining would no doubt sell their business at some point if offered the right price.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -

Yes, but the who eftos off the site is to be alone.. not with others.. what martin bangs on about.
The 10M to charity is just sweets for the idiots that are find with it.0 -
Maybe Martin Lewis will tell us how we can request that our forum name be permanently deleted?0
