"We'll be getting spam emails from MoneySupermarket!!!" ... yes, isn't life tragic.
Presumably the moaners will set up their own website - how about www . expertmoneysaving . com ? Good luck.0 -
Apart from the almost £16M it turned over in the past year?whitelabel wrote: »Id like to see your income if you dont think £15+million a year turnover isnt real money...
Oh, please read everything before all jumping on me, ok?
I had no idea this site had earned that amount of money, sorry for not knowing everything or reading every single piece of news about this...Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
Will be unsubscribing from the newsletter - purely because I don't fancy being spammed with adverts for flaming price comparison crap and it's not impartial anymore when Geoff or Brian from moneysupermarket have Martin by the wallet (and probably feel epic).
It's a Big Deal in terms of it being a previously impartial website selling out - and I'm not 100% comfortable with that. I notice the "wooo quit you've got a low post count" cheerleading groupies are out - well I'm most distinctly NOT a low post count person and I'm still not keen on the idea... but I've always found Martin a little bit slippery anyway to be honest.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

My husband, my family, my friends and so on are unaware and I want to keep it that way tbh. I'll be very careful about what information I divulge here from now on. .
Seriously? A public forum that Is heavily crawled by google, populated by strangers, and you trust that more than your own husband, family and freinds?!
Unbelievable Jeff!
The £87m really makes sense now if financial "product advisors" can get lots of people with this attitude!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
How has he sold anyone out? It's his website? If you feel sold out, leave!
Firstly, he has sold his website, Secondly, its not that easy to just leave it, why dont you try and delete your account from here to find out why you just can't leave?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Just wish I'd thought of it first!
Yes and most of the effort was from contributors to the forums. We knew it was not a co-operative so we have no reason to complain.0 -
Would I be correct in saying that a business is normally sold just before it hits its peak to gain maximum value out of it?0

And this would appear where exactly?
Not true according to this

Willing to give this a chance. My newsletter subscription is on a unique email address (moneysavingexpert@my-domain-name.com), as soon as this receives MoneySupermarket spam then I'm outta here.
Though my prediction is that we'll get ads on the site soon, and all the useful explanatory text about affiliate links (who earns what) will disappear...0 -
Well done Martin and team!
You've made a huge difference to many peoples lives - both financially and on a personal level, directly, and indirectly by allowing us to help each other. You've never charged a penny to do so, and had you been in it for the money you could have sold up years ago and washed your hands.
I'm sure that the strong reactions clearly felt by many users are actually a wonderful reflection of the personal investment that many of us feel we have in your website and, in particular, in your forums. I hope you can take it for what it is - fear of change and perhaps a slight feeling of personal rejection. I reckon you'll prove them all wrong pretty quickly!:D
You clearly still feel passionately about your original aims, and i'm sure your principles and ethos haven't changed overnight, so i for one am not worried about the changes facing MSE in the least.
Congratulations and a huge STAMP:money: of approval!
