  • OOhhhhhhghhh.Just finished my months shopping order at tesco, went to checkout and the site went strange on me,"sorry, there has been an unexpected error, please try again later".Took me ages too as I have not ordered online for a while.I hope my basket is still full when it sorts itself out later on.Probably wont get delivery tomorrow now.
Anyway, the groceries, toiletries and household stuff came to just £81 and I had loads of BOGOFs and 1/2 price stuff in there so probably at least £15 off anyway, expect it to be about £67.
I used my inventory and bought stuff to be used with stuff I already have, like sausages for casseroles as I have 3 packs of colemans sausage casserole mix in the cupboard.
I also bought value loo rolls, hubby wont be pleased so I think I will reserve whats left of the expensive stuff just for his use.
I will update my sig later but with just milk and bread to buy,oh and dog food(£18 for 4 weeks)I think I may be in budget this month.

    Hi all

Just a quick update on last 2 meals - HM Bean & Lentil loaf turned out pretty good - so good that despite it being twice the size of the ready-meal one; it was all eaten at one sitting - even the bit left over that was going to be DH's lunch. Only criticism from myself that it needs less water, it was not firm enough really! Mental note to self - next time, make it (them?) during the day so I can freeze one & re-heat the other, before they see it.

Moroccan chicken & cous cous good but see above comments - massive pot full all eaten in ONE sitting!! Only spend today, 99p for butternut squash for MC recipe.

Good luck all, inspiration from eveyone & I am learning a lot. PS Is it possible to make your own yoghurt using Easiyo equipment - without buying their sachets?
Could you please post the Morroccan Chicken recipe.

    Thanks
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

Thank you everyone for all your left over chicken ideas and recipes. I managed to make my first ever curry from scratch and everyone enjoyed it. A real miracle!

  • I spent £17.88 today whoops. It was mainly on baking things (i.e. flour, sugar, bicarb of soda, baking powder etc etc) which will last me a few months. Will just have to be extra careful at Costco tomorrow gulp!

    Hi folks

Here's my first update for the month following today's delivery of (mostly) staples, and last weekend's shop - I've spent £97.38 of my £240 budget - gulp!

I've spent tonight reading sammy_kaye's winning post of the month - what an inspiration!

So far the meal planning has gone well and there's enough in the freezer and cupboards to keep spending down to just the fresh fruit and veg for this weekend at least, so I'm feeling quietly confident of keeping within the budget at this stage!

Thanks to everyone for your helpful posts, I seem to have spent every evening on this site reading up on the slow-cooker recipes and meal planning threads!

My NSd have been ruined by the need for milk!! (I also need a cow in the garden). Popped into local co op for some more and made the fatal mistake of having the 3 children with me so ended up spending £11.49 instead.

Tesco have just been and have overcharged me on several items. All of the items should have been half price and also delivered an item short, just so happened to be buy 1 get 1 free. The cheek !

Think I'll stick to asda !
  • Jelly turned out beautifully... Super easy to do as well, Ds1 had a bit (he's off his food) ds2 ate all his then finished ds1's leftovers - it's like a little piglet farm here sometimes lol!:D

So that's one of my challenges achieved - the next is hm custard - (thankyou nykmedia) and then the oxtail  . Looking forward to it more than I did the rabbit last month anyway!

Also have to live out of cupboards and freezer now as realised tonight we only have £23.27 for the rest of the month out of £250:eek:   . Only need to buy bananas and milk with that though for the mini chimps/piglets i'm rearing so it SHOULD be fine...am all meal planned out for the rest of the month too...x

Wouldn't happen to have been the Anchor Light spread would it? I've just had a delivery too and I'm pretty certain the spread was much less than the 1.76 they've charged me (scrap that as I've checked and it is the right price). Not only that but the delivery should have arrived last night but the van broke down!!.... you'd have thought they could have refunded the delivery charge as a goodwill gesture. Unfortunately I don't have a choice - only Mr Ts deliver.
