Hi all
Mental note to self - next time, make it (them?) during the day so I can freeze one & re-heat the other, before they see it.
Same here, OH will finish off every last scrap if its there (and never puts on an ounce  ) so i have to remember to freeze stuff before he sees it lol. It doesn't matter how much i put on his plate, he'll go back for seconds!

I'm doing quite a bit of shift work over the next few days so I stocked up yesterday, if I don't hubby tends to go and buy lots of ready made stuff:mad: .
I spent £8 on my organic box and £28.22 at Mr T, there were some toiletries and vitamins in for that price too. I've just made fruity flapjack to keep us going in snacks over the next few days, and now I'm off to write down a dead simple meal plan that DH can follow:rolleyes: . Loads of housework to do so I'd better get going.Grippy is my middle name!0 -

Would it be possible for you to post your flapjack recipe? I have just made some (from a recipe) and they are way too sweet! They made my teeth stand on end.

Im aiming for a NSD today as theres nothing I really need and tomorrow is big shop day anyway. I have about £12 to last a week til next Thu if Im to claw back to my budget. Hopefully shouldnt need too much now, so after my whinge yesterday baout how Im struggling, I have a renewed enthusiasm. My meal plan seems to be getting stretched as it makes more leftovers than anticipated. So the meal we're having tonight was originally scheduled for two days ago. Also my parents are paying for me and DH to go out for dinner at the w/e as my birthday treat, and they're babysitting in the bargain too. Though I guess I have to feed my parents so it doenst really save anything on the food bill / meal plan but at least we get a treat for free.0

Having an NSD today, and not by choice - car was undrivable this morning and I am waiting in for the garage to pick it up. This means I had to reschedule my interview til tomorrow as Renault only provide a courtesy car for 24 hrs and I have more running around to do tomorrow so it makes more sense to have it then.
Sooo OH didn't manage to pick up bread last night and he went to work with a HM ready meal from the freezer for his lunch and the kids had wraps from a fajita kit I got cheap and had forgotten about. So today I have some dough mixing in the BM. I might make rolls for a change - hope they are not too hard as have been in the past.
So this has been a cheap first week.:j I will get my weekly shop tomorrow (for next week) as I don't know how long I will be without a car. We live about 10 miles away from a supermarket and the tiny village "shop" only sells tins and packets as well as milk at stupid prices so won't use them unless I have to.
Have a nice day everyone

Hi all
Is it possible to make your own yoghurt using Easiyo equipment - without buying their sachets?
sasha, I use a litre carton of UHT milk (FF, SS or Soya) this saves on all the pfaff of heating and cooling before starting. Mix a teaspoon of fresh yog (buy a plain one for the first time, then use a spoonful of your own for the next litre) with a little of the milk, then add it and the rest of the milk to the litre cannister. Then treat it like the sachets, boiling water up to level in outer thermos thing, then put in cannister for 8 hours or so, I tend to do mine overnight.
Hope this helps.

Technically it's been 2 NSD, cuz the 2pt milk one of the offspring bought yesterday came out of the lodge money he still owes me:p
We had cauli, broc, leek, peas & sweetcorn with a cheesy sauce...they came home earlier than expected so it didn't get to the 'bake' bit of the recipeI made the sauce with 2/3 milk & used the veggie water to thin it....less cals and less expense:T
I also buy the shop's own brand WUL, but not the budget, & water it down at least 50/50 and because we can only use Fairy laundry detergent cuz of sensitive skin, I do the same with that too now. Fortunately [ ] the builders put our kitchen waste pipe UPhill, so if I use laundry powder me 'ole gets bunged up pretty quick & I'm used to liquid stuff. I saw Liz Earle---her of the skin care jubbies--saying one of her children has eczema & she often doesn't use any detergent at all in the laundry.....it works for 'daily' washes, but obviously you need some oomph for the dirtier stuff.
Stir fry for dinner tonight in honour of the Chinese New Year...apparently I'm a Rooster.

After all the BOGOFS etc and the actual prices of the chicken and weighed stuff is taken into account it should be about £70.
I also get 250 points which is worth £5 to me if I sell it or £10 in deals.£5 for registering plus 5% cashback from UshopUcare which should be a grand total of almost £9.It would have been fantastic to have found better tesco e-codes to use too.
I had to wait up till tesco came back online so I am off to bed now.Nightie night all!
Shopping arrived a half hour early, good thing I was in.Looks like I slightly overestimated my savings:o as total is £77.03.
Still, not bad for the main shop for a month. And so many bags, there was even a poor little packet of digestive biscuits in a bag all on its own.:rotfl:"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

Hi to everyone,
Well over last week i came to a decision that i would start to make more varied meals and get back to the baking and some basic cooking.
I have been making Bread for a while now and that has made such a difference to the budget as before i think i use to feed the bin more than actually got eaten.
All veg is being stored in the garden shed instead of the House which means it is lasting longer and again the Bin is not being fed. (but not sure what i will do in the summer as the shed will not be cool enough)
Do to another thread over the last week i have made -
Apple Braid x 2
Soft Rolls x 28 some are now in the freezer.
Iced Buns plain and with custard inside
Scones
Weetabix Brownies
and of course homemade Pancakes
I have also double portioned Curry, Sausage casserole, spanish chicken, Hotpot thats cooking in SC for tomorrow night and should also be able to make a pie as well
I have managed to get the family to eat a little more rice once a week now instead of once a month.
I have spent more than i would have wish to as i'm into week 2 but that is because of semi-bulk buying of flour and basic things. But i'm hoping that will balance out over the next few weeks.
si i'm keeping my fingers crossed i will come under my Feb challenge.£2 Pig has £86 in his Tummy. I am seriuosly Become a O/S Saver0
