Went to Co-op for milk and ended up spending £8.58 because I couldn't resist the BOGOF offers!!

    I now have:

    2 large jars Uncle Ben's sauces (£1.55 for 2)
    2 x 5005 Can't Believe It's Not Butter ( £1.15 for 2)
    2 x Sharwoods egg noodles (2 for 1.19)
    2 x Aunt Bessie's Lemon Meringue Pies (2 for £1.99)
    2 x cartons milk (£2.70)

I must learn to stop stock piling so much! I have enough food in this house to last for months and still cannot resist those big ole BOGOF signs!!
Signature updated accordingly but please, anyone who reads this, YELL AT ME if I buy anything other than bread & milk for the rest of this month. :o

I've never shopped online before - I would like to use Tescos. Can anyone tell me how much delivery is? I think it might keep my food bill down even with delivery!

Do they generally get you the specific items you ask for? Do they charge you extra if they substitute more expensive items?

There's a choice of delivery date/times and the delivery charge for each slot is shown so you know what you're paying, vary from £3.75 to about £7 I think, but there are sometimes codes available - check the tesco code thread.

I think you can opt for no substitutes if you prefer; when they sub something you pay for the substitute price, not the price of your orignal item. In the last 6 or so orders, I've only had 3 subs and they've been acceptable. You can send them back with the delivery driver if you dont want them.

I live a long way from the store and have no car now so its the easiest option for me, plus it does stop impulse buys. I have an ongoing 'basket' and add to it as I think of things, I make lots of changes before I finally check out! :D

Spent 20.74 so have added to total. That included some cleaning stuff but I am adding that in with my challenge money anyway. Also, Somerfield has a good deal with salmon just now if anyone is interested. I got tinned wild red salmon BOGOF and also a pack of smoked salmon half price. They had run out of their salmon fillets £2.99 reduced from 5.99 I think but will keep looking for these and add to freezer. So, we are topped up with salmon for a while smile.gif

:eek:EEk I am not doing well this month, I have already spent £165:confused: I did stock up on some meat though when it was on offer in Somerfield. I think I have been visiting the Co-Op too much, need to reign in the spending now or I am going to come in well over budget! The kids are off school now too until Tuesday, so this is going to be difficult:rolleyes:

After a good start to the month I have spent £31.15 on organic fruit and veg and a box of 12 packets of organic pasta delivered to the door. I worked out that it is cheaper than driving to our nearest green grocer shop or major supermarket.Like Skyegirl I have to reign in the Co-op spending too. DS2 works there part time and we tended to use it because he has some discount but it is still cheaper to buy the fruit and vegetables delivered.
Time to make some calculations. DH spent £26 on alcohol in the co-op at the weekend but I have taken that out of b'day and holiday budget as it was the first time since last September that we have all been together. It was a late Christmas dinner1
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

  • My fruit and veg delievery would have come today (I'm not there to find out exactly what is in it) that costs me £15.
My ma is sending me back to the flat with rice, sweet and sour sauce as well as seaweed so I can make my own sweet and sour veg with rice and seaweed at home for way less than what it would cost to buy a take out chinese as it is chinese new year:j ;take out = £6.80 at least  , HM version = £3.31 which is a saving of £3.49  . Okay it's not my money but it's good that my ma is realising what a difference it can make :T .

    Spent of budget = £15
    Left of budget = £20

It's the Co-op with a lot of us isn't it, lol. If I overspend, it's always in there - usually admittedly because their reduced section is the best in the area, but also because if I'm on comfort food mode, only their chilled cheesecakes or own-brand Strawberry cheesecake ice cream will do :)

I've now done for this week's shopping bar a 6pt bottle of milk - and so far I'm on track (just).

Will update my sig in a moment
