Morning!
We-ell....they had the boring lemon & sugar pancakes after all, apart from Pup who had a smidge of peanut butter on his:p
Everything was going great guns till I opened my little packet to warm gently......it wasn't bol sauce after all, but some chicken thingie:eek: I've got some masking tape to label my freezered stuff now but obviously me likkle stickie one fell orf from whenever the gloop got frozzed:p So I continued with my plan to bung in the less-than-best peppers lurking in the fridge & the last of the mushrooms & considered serving it with rice cuz it smelled a bit curry-fied. Then inspiration struck like a 10 ton truck
there was a pack of pitta in the cupboard! I bunged in a chopped slice of bacon for good measure & they had hot kebabs instead.....Two out of the three were not too sure if they liked it or not--even tho they cleared their plates--& the third thoroughly enjoyed it even tho he's the one who doesn't like curry:rotfl:
Oh...& a NSD, so on the whole, a good result!Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Just had a thought....isn't that what Shrove Tuesday is traditionally for, using up whatever's left over?
Perhaps my Sunday school days were more insightful than I realised:rotfl:Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

A nsd yesterday (apart from some bits for ds birthday tea tomorrow)...we had some really nice sausages with mash yesterday that I got reduced in Morrisons and the twins loved them so that was a result...
Have to go shopping today or tomorrow for the rest of the bits for ds birthday tea like the cake, pop etc. so I am going to write a strict list so I don't get tempted to pick up far more than I need.....I think though that Morrisons have some nappies on a third off at the mo and I am on my last pack, so will get some of those (although I don't count nappies in my budget they come out of a different one)
Have a good day all...Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

I have been frantically listing on ebay to try to get cash for food.I have tesco vouchers on at the minute and they have bids already so at least I know there will be cash in just under a weeks time, then 10 days to transfer it to my bank.
Hi shel, hope you don't mind me asking, but how does it work selling the vouchers as mine have got my name on them ? Have been saving them for driving lessons for ds but he is not interested. Thanks in advance.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
Just a bottle of lemon juice at 85p (daylight robbery!) fron the corner shop for me yesterday.
They didn't have the little squeezy lemon things or real lemons so was forced to part with 85p.
Anyway, the running total is now £22.85p (£77.15p left to go).0 -
hey all, just checking in before my week over the border.
had pancakes last night, all went well, very pleased. mum's just given up smoking (well, is in the process of) so am a tad concerned about how much food she's going to buy while i'm away... there was a carrier bag ful yesterday and she wasn't starting till today...
still i guess it'll save money in the long run if it works out, not to mention my lovely mum's lungs!
so yeah, i'm off to edinburgh on the sleeper tonight, there for 4 nights, then back on the sleeper on monday night. hotel in london tuesday night, then wednesday's my birthday, so back home and out for a meal that evening. lovely lovely. no work till valentine's day!
have set a challenging if not miserly budget for the trip away, tho it'll probably mean nowt but fish n chips for the week, so i'll no doubt come back twice the size :shocked:Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0 -

Sorry I'm a bit behind with posting here - been busy at work.
For the Jan challenge I set an arbitrary £280 (first month doing it in a long time) and came in at £217.88 - YAY!
So for Feb can you please put me down for £190? Hope I can make the challenge! Freezer is quite full but will need to shop for fresh food and tins at the weekend.
That's for 2 adults, 1 four year old and 1 one year old so includes nappies, wipes, etc.
Good luck everyone!!0 -

Thank you shel. I did a search forum thing but couldn't find the right info. Will have another try.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0
