Evening everyone,
My first shop of the month today and I spend £2.42, on bread and some fruit. :j Normally I would have been in the supermarket on Saturday morning filling my trolley, however I am determined to come in under budget.0 -

MrsDoyle - I can recommend that thread, too. It's helped me no end and there are other vegetarians on there that have great recipes.
I've found it really fits in with this GC thread well AND I'm still eating D&DD's famous apple plait and iced fingers. Can't give up my home baking, and find I don't need to with the approach we're using.

NSD yesterday and we had dinner at my dad's. Last night made some banana bread (I had manky bananas too!) and a half and half loaf for today's lunches. The bread turned out nicer than usual:j, the only difference was using Lidl's breadflour - going to be buying that again.
Tonight's dinner was roasted veg, cous cous and the £1 Pork & Leek sausages from Lidl's, very tasty. I'm going to try to get to Lidl's every second week from now on as I'm impressed with the quality.
I spent £1.49 on a bottle of diet coke from the corner shop today but resisted everything else. Think the only thing I need in the next few days is milk and bananas.

Hi all, this has been a NSD for me, but I have now found the solutions to a couple of kitchen problems I have been having recently and want to count the expense as part of my grocery shopping.
Problem 1 - trying to get potatoes on top of the mince & veggies when making cottage pies
Solution 1 - creamy mashed potatoes dispensed through an icing bag. I found one on eBid last night. (It even has different attachments for different shapes of florets!)
Problem 2 - no timer on my slow coker, so I keep burning things when I forget to switch it off.
Solution 2 - buy a plug-in timer. I already have one of these on my hallway heater so that it only comes on during cheap rate electricity, but was loath to buy another as the first one set me back £6.95 However, I found one on eBid for £1.99 from same seller as the icing bag kit!
With discount for combined shipping, I'm getting both the timer and the icing kit (both brand new) for total of £4.79 and, as they are going to be used in the kitchen, I'm paying for them from my grocery money, if that's alright with everyone else?I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

They had a weigh-in and whoever lost the most weight that week got the money! Its a great way to meet up and get motivated and chance to actually make money!!! Very MSE!
Knew a group that did something similar, but all took a piece of fruit, most weight loss had all the fruit!!You can't stay young for ever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life.0
