Have you checked out the slimming posts on here? I reckon by even doing the grocery challenge you are eating more healthy anyway as it doesn't give much scope for buying processed, expensive foods. I lost weight by cutting out a lot of fat and using cooking methods such as grilling and steaming (even the trusty old sc is healthy as it tastes delicious without fat).
Thank you, good to know i wasnt being irrational!
I did feel really guilty about the concept of paying £4.50 a week for someone to weigh me when i have a perfectly acceptable set of scales at home.
I've lost 3 1/2 stone from my heaviest weight in the last 3 yrs but there is still a long way to go and i thought that i would be more motivated at a group.
Will definitely make a conscious effort to look at the lose weight threads on here.
I really have no excuse, im a vegetarian (so have cut out all those mcdonalds, marshmallows and bacon sandwiches) stopped smoking last april, rarely drink and make most meals from scratch.
I ride to and from work 3 nights a week, cant drive so walk everywhere and only pay a £1 a month for gym membership. I also have a very active, healthy 3 yr old to keep me busy!
I just love the chocolate, crisps, bread and cheese too muchBack and ready to save some money!0 -
Hi again mrs D., just wanted to tell you about a friend of mine who started up an impromptu slimming club with her mates, she got a group of friends and they all met up once a week and paid a pound. They had a weigh-in and whoever lost the most weight that week got the money! Its a great way to meet up and get motivated and chance to actually make money!!! Very MSE!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Hello Mrsdoyle
Thanks for sharing your SW story with us I really am too nosey for my own good:o
I know that on the old stlye board there is also a losing weight old style tread, its really fab and as you said you felt that you needed a group to motivate you why not give it a try, I'm sure they will be just as informative as SW and will be much more friendly than Marjorie Doors from the group you were at last week and you can get support 24/7 for FREE!But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Have been all over town today following up everyones bargains etc.
Started off with
Doorstep milkman 4.26
J Graves 3.48 - yog mix & muffin papers
Asda - 2.75 (did get 4 of £1 easter eggs as well but they are not included in grocery budget)
Sains - 40.50
Butchers - 4.11
Lidl - 8.26
Tesco - 0.18 bag of bread flour (had 30p in coupons and a rain chk voucher for fish fingers that were free)
Total spent today £63.54
This doesn't look good as my total spend so far is £77.98 (it does however include £10 on lunch items for DS2 instead of school dinners) and I still have 2 weeks organic box and another doorstep milkman to go in this 2 weeks but I have stocked up on some things which will go forward into the second 2 week period and even beyond that so it should even out eventually.
We got told that DS2 school lunch provider has gone bankrupt so I now have to pack him up 5 days a week. I will use the money I would have paid for school lunches to buy his pack up items. So my budget could go back up to £180/mth but we'll see.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

Whilst I was going round Lidl I wrote down a few prices of things that we usually use so I can check them against the price of Mr S, T & A for future reference. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
