What is this lil_me list thingy your all on about?
Hi, When someone decides to join the grocery challenge they post how much their limit is.
lil_me then adds this to a list (think it: on this thread somewhere) then at the end of the month when people have declared there actual spends lil_me adds this to the list so the estimated spend can be shown against the actual spend.
I hope this makes sense and i'm not confused you.;)'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'0 -
Hi Kimberley
yep, wot carolt2 said!
lil-me keeps track for us all of how we do agianst our budget. It's usually right at the front of the thread but this month, I think with everyone starting very early, it's a bit further into the thread.......it's on page 9, post number 164.

Hi all, bit of advise needed here.
Me and OH have been chatting about replacing our microwave. I have mentioned to him that I would like to get a slow cooker and breadmaker but can't justify it cause my kitchen is not very big and if I bought them I would like these 2 items on the worktop.
I have suggested to OH that if we just got rid of the microwave there would be enough room on worktop for a small/ compact bread maker and slow cooker.
My cooker is electric and I'm on economy 7 tariff.
Was thinking that I could used Breadmaker during night..save abit of money on grocery aswell as electric.
Not sure if OH could cope without microwave:D
Can anyone think of pro's and cons to this?

Oh dear, Oh dear ,what have I done!...........
Went shopping Sat for a months supply of things needed, spent £62.34 which left £30.00 plus for fruit and veg - so far so good and feeling reasonable about it.
Now the bad news - Went to a meeting yesterday and on the way home stopped off at a service station. They had a M&S food store and I hadn't left anything in the slow cooker for when we got home. Need I say more - old habits die hard - I feel so guilty and have already overspent and it's only the 4th of the month. - the freezer beckons!!January food 175.00 spent 181.60 oops nothing left. £4000 challenge/3384.49 leftheating oil £396.69,NSD 13/200 -

Hi Carol, I'd be very reluctant to do without my microwave, I use it more than my electric cooker. I just had to replace my basic with a combi microwave and I’m very pleased with it.
I have a breadmaker but I dont like the bread baked in it. I only use it to mix and prove the dough, then take it out and finish in the oven. To be honest, if I'd read the the OS threads about bread making I probably wouldnt have bothered to get it and may well end up getting rid of it, there's a lot of hype about breadmaking, but in fact its very simple.
I find my slow cooker really useful and would recommend it especially to anyone who is out at work all day. It does take up a lot of room though, and I find the inner casserole is very heavy (MR 6.5 litre) and difficult to wash as my instruction book says not to stand it in water for any length of time.
Dont know if that helps or not... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Slow cooker vs microwave

I'm with Rosieben on this. I have a microwave, breadmaker (in loft somewhere) and slow cooker. When I get bread maker out, I onlt tend to mix and proove my bread in it then finish in oven,. My slow cooker is invaluable and I would never get rid of it (tho it does take up loads of room and the actual crock is very heavy). That said. I would not want to be without my microwave either. Our kitchen is tiny-not room to swing a cat, but we are coping until I come up with a solution to fit everything in!!!. (we also have a george foreman, deep fat fryer, kenwood chef, coffee machine and smoothie maker-and it's an absolute nightmare finding a clear worktop!!!)

I spent £59.56 today at sainsburys
Although £28.61 was on grocerys. They have some granite placemats there at the minute at an utter bargain of £7.99 for two. The same ones are in john lewis for £20 for two, which i did have on my christmas list. I couldnt resist these. I spent £30.95 on 6 place mats and 8 coasters. It would have cost me £40 for just 4 mats from john lewis.... BargainMarch 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009

Thanks, I know that OH is very keen on trying the HM bread. and i think he likes the idea of the slow cooker. He can and will cook if i ask him to but he is not very good at multi-tasking:rotfl: . I thought that if he could chop everything up and put it in SC it would save me having to start from scratch when i get home.

Evening all,
Well i've had a very productive weekend, H/made sauasges (Thanks Mrs Mcrawber), h/made pasta, 2 shepherds pies for the frezzer, H/made meatballs in tomatoe sauce also for the frezzer. Saturady brought mince £23.99 and sauage castings for 45p for 2mt. Sunday was cooking day so was a NSD. Yipee. The best was today, my husbands boss has been gentle pushed and is "no longer with the company" so all the headarches and problems this man has cause us which have been very serious in certain cases, has gone and can no longer cause any prblems. Also so there is the possiblity that my husband my get promoted into his role, which will come with a payrise (Extre savings).
Sorry to ramble on a bit off subject but, i am soooo pleased at todays news i can't help myself.
Thanks for listening.
