Hi All....I'll update my spends tomorrow as usual.
Think we might have pancake day early, cuz one of the offspring is on late shift this week:o but thanks for the encouragement to try a savoury filling....it's the usual plastic lemon & 1/2lb sugar in this house:p
Have you tried putting a dose of bicarb of soda I]the stuff you can cook with[/I in your bath water Cuddleymarm? It's good for relieving itchiness, as in chicken pox, sunburn etc....don't think you need the water too hot, & sprinkle in a tablespoon or two as the tap runs. HTH
Oh & thanks for the BM info at Lidl TheBees....just might get over there---it's about 10miles away:o ----for a look-see.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Had a reasonably good weekend, helped by the fact that I went to a too-tough gym class on Saturday and was only just capable of movement on Sunday. I'm walking very slowly today too
That, coupled with the weekend's weather, was enough to keep me well away from the shops.
I'm up to a £74 spend now but that's enough big stuff to hopefully last two monthsI'm hopeful to come in under budget this month. I do think the breadmaker is making a very big difference to my budget
Good luck everyone, especially nopotthis sounded woefully familiar to me. and cuddlymarm
I believe you should be in bed about now - do be sure and take it easy!!

How do I turn it into soup? I do have a slow cooker.
I'd really like to have a go at a MILD curry. Has anyone got a nice simple curry recipe that the whole family will eat?
Also saw an idea for chicken pasta bake. Anyone know how to make it?
Thanks
Hi TheBees, righto, soup...put onion, any leftover veg and anything else thats hanging around (!) into your pan or sc along with the stock (warm it up before it goes in the sc tho') basically you can bung anything in and leave it to cook, whizz with blender and serve with bread and grated cheese. I find celery adds a lot to soups.
Mild curry....Fry onion and garlic in a bit of oil, add chicken, tbspn curry powder, tin of tomatoes s&p cook. Serve with rice.
chicken pasta bake....fry an onion in butter until soft, add 1 tbspn flour stir until mixed in then gradually add milk so it doesn't go lumpy. bring to a simmer so it thickens then chuck all the chicken in, add cokked pasta and bake in the oven. Sprinkle cheese on top if you like for a crusty topping.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

This month is going to be really difficult for me, it's dh's birthday today and we are having takeaway pizza (we usually go out for a meal on birthdays so this is at least going to be cheaper than that)...also ds is 6 on Thursday and have got a few friends coming over (again for pizza, going to do the 555 deal and have got other bits and pieces in to go with it, but will need to go out and get some more stuff)...then going to my Mums for the half term week, now in theory I should spend less on groceries, but by the time we go out for the day with the kids (London Zoo at least that is with Clubcard tokens) and I end up having a takeaway or 2 down there, I am going to really struggle....
Oh well I was going to say at least March will be better, but Easter weekend back to mum and dads for their surprise 40th wedding party (cost being divided up between me and 3 siblings) and then my twins turn 2 on 25th March  ......Roll on April!!!Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

Hi all,
Sounds like i'm not the only one struggling a little this month!
I took out the £280 when i got paid on the 25th of jan and put it all in one envelope (as opposed to previous months when each weeks budget got separated) and i have spent £180 so far!
I am actually quite appalled at myself.
I use my budget to pay for anything and everything not bill related, and i have bought some new things for the kitchen (one of which was a confectionary thermometer to make vegetarian marshmallows for £5 from dunelm)
I also joined slimming world (costing £10 for first week/ half price registration plus £5 for healthy extra cereal bars and the magazine)
Whilst i was there, an incident occurred which has persuaded me not to return!
Hopefully i will be able to follow it by myself
Anyway, ive just done a fridge and freezer inventory and weve got plenty in to last for (hopefully the next fortnight)
I just feel a bit disappointed that i wasnt sensible at first, as i was hoping to save some of the budget to pay a little extra off my credit card.
Feel better for having got that off my chest, sorry to have ranted!Back and ready to save some money!0 -

Well, frankly the whole session was rubbish!
The leader or whatever you would call her was slating members of the group who weren't there (which is a big no-no in my book!) and then halfway we noticed there was a fire nearby, but didnt know where.
I suggested that we all evacuate, everyone ignored me. I left with my 3 yr old son, and called the fire brigade. They got there and told me that there was a fire at the back of the building, that it has caused some damage to the building (mostly cosmetic) but that it was out.
I was considering just leaving but the woman called me back inside so i waited for her to speak to me (just to explain the rules of SW) for over half an hour!
Just as she was about to speak to me some firemen came and started giving her strong words of advice about evacuating in the event of a fire and stating that she was responsible for the welfare of the people there.
She started denying all knowledge of fire procedures and then tried to use me as a witness to her innocence, despite suddenly remembering that there were several gas containers which could have quite easily exploded!
The firemen also said that the fire was actually licking up a gas pipe at the back of the building, so we were really, really lucky.
I was so annoyed as i had only known her a very, very short time!!
Maybe im over-reacting but i was really angry afterwards as i had tried to evacuate everyone in the first place.Back and ready to save some money!0
