hello all, Hi lil_me please put me down for a budget of £250. (to include all groceries and baby groups)

Have nearly finished our months meal planner so far have got to number 24!! This worked really well last month.
Have had our monthly shop - and stocked up on meat, bread flour and some fresh fruit and veg. That now leaves us with £67 for weekly top ups. The main expense is milk for bottles - but can't scrimp on that!!

Good luck to everyone and welcome to any newbies

P.S Mullerlight yougurts may be "free" on slimming world but are also V. expensive when not on offer so I buy the asda own good for you fruit yogurts (look a bit like mullers tbh) and they're actually nicer!!!
Have you tried making your own yoghurts? I got a free yoghurt maker and used plain bio yoghurt as a starter. It made lovely yoghurts. I found the instructions on a google search. It works out much cheaper than buying.

Recently I have bought kits from a wholefood shop and just add water, really cheap too and lovely flavours, a good idea if you buy lots of yoghurts.

    Hya Folks
Just adjusted my sig...had to cut down on number of characters, despite only being on 4 lines....so the Tardis has disappeared! Oh well...I can live with the clutter!
We have had an expensive week...at nearly £300 already (started on 23/1)!:eek::eek:
Mind you, we have enough potatoes for the month (big 12.5 kg bag @ £3.79) as well as meat 'n' stuff for at least two and a half weeks...so hopefully we will still manage to come in under budget, enough veg for the week, so only milk to get for most of the next week or two, as well as fresh veg later.
This will help soften the fact that both cars need their MOT this month!!:eek::eek:..help!

Ah well, off to oversee OH working in the garden...can't do it myself as my back been has been bad for a couple of weeks. So must make sure he does what he is supposed to!

just a quickie - the liquid washing detergent from Lidl is brilliant - blindingly white whites!! My bedding is whiter than it's been for ages and I've been trying all kinds on it. This wonderful potion was £1.99 - it's the concentrated one.

I make my own yogs (with an Easiyo yoghurt maker) from both UHT milk (with some yog as starter) as well as the Easiyo packs. It's quick and easy, and saves a fortune, especially if you make soya yoghurt.

  • Hope things work out better for you Irishmom - we'll all help with recipes if you need some... I've managed to copy and paste loads of really cheap ones from this site over the months. We can practically make a meal out of nothing these days. ;)

Just spent another £8.35 at Netto's this afternoon. Needed the dreaded loo rolls again  (gonna start issuing the kids sheets soon).

There was olive oil on special and reduced meat, so took advantage.
Also got some cheese which I need to eeck out this month and some marg and veg.

If you were one of the ones toying with the idea of making HM sausages then I'd say 'go for it!!' Just made MrsM's breakfast sausage recipe and DH has declared them 'bloomin lovely.' :j Am so proud. :D

He's even half and halfing the milk for me now without my reminding. Love my supportive hubby. :kisses3:

Off to finish my menu plans. All the best everyone. :D

Called in at the Co-op in the village where DS2 has football training.

Got 4 Can't believe marg on bogof 2.30
3 loaves of Mr Warb thick toastie bread (reduced to 30p ea from 1.28) 0.90
    2pts milk reduced 0.44.

    Total spent 3.64

The bread is an emergency freezer supply and the marg I am stocking up on a bit at a time, so hopefully will have enough to last until next offer.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

I did stock up on lots of essentials that were on offer, as FFM for one can testify, so I will be able to do much better over the coming months

The rate my sack of basmati rice is going down I think we will still be eating it in 2009 :rotfl:

  • Just done first grocery shop of the month at Lidl and spent £19,09
Got the amazingly cheap bread flour (still 48p) and raring to go with the HM bread, BUT Lidl don't sell yeast!
Will have to see if I can get some in the village, I expect it will be dried though. Couldn't look anywhere else in town as my arms were nearly dropping off already (also got some paint and bits and pieces for the great kitchen revamp).
