Our school lunches are £10.25 per week
Ours is:- £8.75 pw no drink, £10.25 pw small drink, £12.50 pw milkshake. All 3 are dinner and pudding. My two youngest only have school dinners once a week @ £2.05 each.
OH has gone to Mr S to get (hopefully) 2 weeks of shopping. My cunning plan is instead of giving the children a Capri Sun every day I'm giving them a Fruit Shoot and then refilling the bottle each day with shops own squash. Their lunch tins are too small to take the average sized drinks container but the Fruit Shoot one is just right. This should save me a fortune on drinks - 3 kids, 3 drink per day = 15! Although my teenage son uses his EMA to buy drinks at college so he doesn't really need his Mummy to give him one.:rotfl: :rotfl: . I'll update my total when OH gets back.
PS chinese takeaway tonight. 1st one this year.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £157.19 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Oh and I have finally discovered the trick to slicing breadmaker bread - leave it over night to cool. I got mine before christmas and this is the first time I've managed it
Hoping for a NSD today.0 -
I hope everything gets sorted soon Irish mom. It must be a terribly stressful time for you.
Hello L-M I find that since I began writing a menu plan for the month that we spend a lot less on food.
We have 12 here for dinner today. Our sons have come home from uni for the skiing and DD has invited some cousins over to stay. They are bringing the food and cooking for us tonight. All of them appreciate that we are on a very tight budget and usually bring food and drink here when they come to visit. We are very lucky that we have generous family members. That means of course that we don't have to post any spends for this weekend. Tomorrows' meals will come from the garden and the freezer.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I have an electric knife that we got for a wedding present 24 years ago that had been stuck at the back of a cupboard. We have found it is ideal for slicing bread but as you say not until it has cooled overnight.

I agree that menu plans are a Godsend. It not only saves me money but saves me time too.
As a busy working mum of two I find it really helps me to plan my time so that when meal time comes around I know exactly what to expect. I plan easy to prepare meals on my busiest days such as Curry & rice.
Every morning I have a look at the menu plan and take food out of the freezer as needed. This means that the meat is defrosted by the time I come in from work at 3pm ready for me to prepare the meal. It also prevents me from being tempted to call for a takeaway or fish supper.
In the past I would shop as I needed stuff or did mega shops when I would buy a load of ready meals and new stuff to try out which was often wasted. I would also have nights when there was nothing in the house to make a meal out of so again the takeaway to the rescue!
Planning is the key!But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

Hi i've been following slimming world since october and have lost 1st 8 pounds so far - I've found it has made no difference to my grocery budget at all as I have a lot of green days which is lots of pasta/ potatoes (cheap) and less meat. Good Luck with both the grocery challenge and the weight loss...x
P.S Mullerlight yougurts may be "free" on slimming world but are also V. expensive when not on offer so I buy the asda own good for you fruit yogurts (look a bit like mullers tbh) and they're actually nicer!!!#118 DFW Debt freely Christmas 2012 Challenge0
