Ive done a weekly shop today (some things will last the month though), which Im going to aim to do every Friday, rather than going every other day as per usual. Im banning myself from spending more than a fiver on any other day of the week.
Todays total came in at about £33 including two shops and one market stall.
Shouldnt need anything now until next Friday, apart from the obligatory bread and maybe milk and two things that I forgot / werent available today. So on that basis Im on target as I have spent one quarter of my budget.
Made a few changes to tighten the purse strings for my second GC month.0 -
I've just realised I've a 5 week month  (pay day being the 28th each month!), so £40 may be optimistic - but I still have cupboards full of stuff  .
Little Miss Naughty, I would suggest anywhere but Mr T for fruit and veg! Morrisions is v good for 'bulk buying fruit', 2day bag of 8 apples - £1, 7 pears - £1, you could get a bag of bananas (10-12 in) for just over £1 and they had pineapples for 68p (I resisted!). I find my local Lidls are good for veg (not quite so good for fruit). Also try to buy seasonally fresh (as cheaper) - this time of year if you want exotic, kiwi, pineapple and mango are normally on offer- if not buy tinned (again Aldi and Lidl do a good exotic tinned fruit mix- apart from having a few bits of banana in - yuk!) or dried (same places!). Also you may find your local fruit and veg shop may have some good offers.
I'm off to the farmers market tomorrow  . Could be dangerous, but I will resist :rotfl:
May try the hob nob recipe (although not good for the diet!) Also considering a small bread maker (as only me). Can you freeze hm bread? Otherwise I will be the size of a house as I love fresh bread0 -
Yep!
hmmm ... another ticket sale opportunity methinks?
:rotfl:
Definitely.
Do you want to be the glamorous lady in a bikini walking across the screen holding the score card above her head between rounds as well?

Well I have started the first day of my first challenge:j
I called into Asda on the way houe from work to take this weeks cash out of the bank (so I don't use the dreaded card) and popped in.
I spent £1.92 on a notebook and a small piece of fish to make fishcakes to tea (using up the leftover mash from last night.) While I was cooking it I enptied my cupboard to see what I have and found 3 open packets of caster sugar!!!!! I think I need to put the stuff in a cupboard where I can see properly what I have before I buy more
I'm going to try the Hobnobs this weekend so thanks to Twinks for that.
I'm very much a newbee to forums so I hope I can keep up:rotfl:0 -
Hi All
Count me in for the February challenge for £150 for 1 grown up & 2 ravenous kids! I did Januarys challenge without struggling too much as we were still munching on the Xmas goodies, so February may need a little more thought! :rotfl: .I really need to cut back as I'll fail miserably in the £4K challenge otherwise.
Thanks to everyone for their ideas & recipies!& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin
