Hi everyone,
Well, I went to Asda yesterday and was £6 odds, however, I cant find my receipt. I know its in here somewhere, so, I will have a good look for it and update my sig later.
Mrs M I made pastry with the recipe you gave me. It was alot better than the one I tried last week, but, I still need to work at it. I think next time I make it I will try it in the food mixer. When your rolling out pastry, do you roll it out very thin?
I will defo have a good look in Lidl and Aldi next time I go shopping. My mum loves Lidl, and my Dad loves Aldi.
I was telling Dh that I was going to start and shop at Aldi & Lidl, but, was a little bit put off by the packaging in a foreign language, and he reminded me that I would have to be careful, as DH#2 is being tested for a peanut allergy, and although I know things like cheeses pasta sauces and meats shouldnt have traces of peanut in them, I still need to be very careful, expecially when the doctor said that he is 99% sure Ds has a peanut allergy, and although he took a mild reaction before, doesnt mean to say it will be a mild reaction next time, infact, he could actually stop breathing:eek:   .
MY SIL has a peanut allergy, and she has to be really really careful about what she eats, but, saying that, shes allergic to alot of other stuff too. Anyway, Im waffling now and getting off the subject.
The Aldi near me is a new one, it only opened last year, but, I havent been in that one, but, I will venture there.
Jackie
P.S Mrs M, you mentioned in another post about Ham, Potato & cheese slices, could I have the recipe for that please if you dont mind x
Hi Jackie,
I know this is a little late, but most items in Lidls and Aldi have the ingredients written in englisch too.
But to help you, the german word for peanut/s is Erdnuss/ Erdnuesse

 At my Co-Op its on bogof but for £1.52..grr, do they price differently around the coutry then?
I see people mention toilet rolls on here a lot. Theres a store (i think only in the north west though) called bodycare-a sort of bargain superdrug type place, and they do there own brand toilet rolls, 4 for 99p and they're excellent, soft as quality stuff and still flush well + plenty of sheets per roll. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. Evening everyone.I've had a lovely no spend day.I made lentil and veg soup today and managed to feed 6 and still have enough for tomorrow and to send some down to sis.We had fresh homemade rolls too.I made a dozen last night and had to make more at lunchtime.I halfed the dough and made 6 rolls and used the other to make pesto pinwheels which we had tonight with tuna pasta bake. This breadmaking is great I'm making all kinds of variations but I'm meant to be trying to loose weight!!!!!!lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

I'll also do jacket potatoes in the slow cooker tomorrow morning so we can have those before we go to the match, these can be cooking whilst DS2 at footie training and DH at work.
That sounds a good idea but how do you do it? Do the potatoes need raising off the base? any water needed? And how long do you recommend?

Hi Sunnyday
here is a recipe for onion soup - I made some last night in my slow cooker and think it's delicious.
4 Large Onions
a little oil
1 teaspoon caster sugar
1.5 litres hot vegetable stock
150mls white wine
salt and pepper
slice onions very finely and sprinkle over the sugar in a large pan. Fry for approx 20 minutes on a low heat until golden and softened. Add hot stock, seasoning and wine. Simmer covered for 15 mins (or put in the slow cooker for a few hours).
Hope this helps.

I know the Co-Op has some Pilgrim cheese on offer, i think (though not 100% sure) that its on bogof and is about £2.00 ish
I've taken to buying a milk called MOO thats about 8p cheaper per litre than normal milk, but it is long-life stuff and not too everyones taste. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. OOooo you lifesaver you!
Thanks very much TheBees.
That will be in my slowcooker very soon:D
Galactic green - try not to feel feel disheartened, have a look in the cupboards and see what you can make out of whats already there.
Homemade bread and supermarket own brand jam is a great filler for little ones lunches, soups and stews are good, filling and cheap with more bread or jackets with the stew, even yorkshire puddings will make a huge plateful.
Hope this helps and fingers crossed for you.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
