Anyone got a nice spaghetti and meatballs recipe?

So I got around to doing a medium sized shopping today and ended up spending £20.23 in Sainsbury and £5.86 in M&S. Sainsbury included ingredients for a couple of gift type things, F&V for at least this week if not a bit into next week and a few bogof type things. M&S was pretty much a mistake really but I guess we had the budget for it
Anyway this leaves me on £109 spend with only one more weekend to go till payday. Although I do need a trip to our local deli tomorrow who do the best pesto - I usually get a big jar for £11 - and the best balsamic which costs around £6. Next weekend will be f&v only!
Hope everyone else is doing okay...0 -
Popped to asda and spent £80 today:eek: My MiL is giving me her breadmaker on sunday so i had to go and get bags of bread flour yeast and dried milk that i hadnt budgeted for plus bought some herbs and dried fruit fot breads. I already have a freezer full of bread which needs to be used up but im desperate to have a play with the BM. I do now have enough to last us till the 26th when MArch begins and although ive gone over my £200 budget its abig improvement from the £400 i normally spend so i cant be too mad at myself!! AS cupboards are now so well stocked and i have got a new handblender and the BM I aim to come in budget in March."With no money you start to discover your own inner resource" GK Chesterton2 adults, 3 children0

I see people mention toilet rolls on here a lot. Theres a store (i think only in the north west though) called bodycare-a sort of bargain superdrug type place, and they do there own brand toilet rolls, 4 for 99p and they're excellent, soft as quality stuff and still flush well + plenty of sheets per roll.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.

I'll also do jacket potatoes in the slow cooker tomorrow morning so we can have those before we go to the match, these can be cooking whilst DS2 at footie training and DH at work.
That sounds a good idea but how do you do it? Do the potatoes need raising off the base? any water needed? And how long do you recommend?
Thanks from TheBees
No water or liquids needed.
I do them for approx ¾ hour in oven then wrap individually in foil put in on low and they will finish cooking in approx 2- 3 hours all depends on size and quantity of potatoes. They would keep on low for approx extra hour if you weren't back in time.
You can also do from uncooked, poke with a knife all over wrap in foil put in slowcooker on low 8 - 10 hours or high 3-4 hours.
I do them in oven first as it crisp the skin up a little.

Think we're doing pretty well so far this month. I'm trying out some vegetarian recipes, interested in vegan too. I've always wanted to feed my men meat every day but, what with being skint, and making an effort to conserve world resources, I'm having a go at reducing our beef and pork consumption and making more meals with beans and lentils.
Any web site suggestions for vegetarian/vegan recipes very welcome. Thank you!0 -
Hi Jackie,
I know this is a little late, but most items in Lidls and Aldi have the ingredients written in englisch too.
But to help you, the german word for peanut/s is Erdnuss/ Erdnuesse
HTH
Hi Ergon,
Thanks for that, I went into Aldi yesterday and had a right good look round, and was very impressed, so, I will defo be going there again. I will keep a note of the german word for peanut just incase. Still waiting on Doctors results, to confirm for definate.
I wen to Aldi & Asda yesterday. I could have left it until today, cos I didnt actually need any of the stuff I bought yesterday, and that would have meant I would have had 4 NSD in a row, however, it means I dont need to go this weekend, and I can spend it with the kids.
Spent £13.09 in Aldi, and £21.79 in Asda, so, I will update sig in a minute. Im actually quite pleased with myself so far.
I cant help but feel I could do alot better on the cooking front. I think its because, I bought biscuits in Adsa yesterday for treats for the kids and DH (ok and me too:p ). I should make more of an effort and bake cakes and biscuits. It would save the pennies, and my waistline (I for some strange reason, dont eat alot of what I cook when im cooking sweet things).
TBH Im not very good at the baking, but, I will keep trying.
I want to make more soups too. The only soups ive made so far are Carrot and Corriander, and Lentil, so, Im looking for some ideas.
Keep up the good work everyone.
