Morning all
I`m all excited waiting for my shopping to be delivered later this morning as this is my week 4 in Feb so i will know whether or not i`m in budget.
The really expensive dogfood i bought a couple of days ago will be divided up over the weeks that it will last us so that should make a huge difference, rather than buying it in advance and doing this i am hoping that i can get back to normal usage and work the opposite way around and put the money in a pot so that when we need it the money is already there.
when i`ve re sorted my meal plan i want to see if we can live out of the freezer and cupboards for a week to save a weeks shopping and i really don`t see any reason why we can`t do this as there is so much in there but i also need to make sure that there is enough left to cover the shifts that i work and won`t be able to cook, otherwise we will resort to takeaways and we can`t have that now can we
I guess that if i re-sort the freezer then i can reserve a shelf for this type of food, at the moment theres a shelf for meat & fish, a shelf for veggies etc so i think i shall have a try and see if this makes a difference to how i organise things.
Good luck everyone:D

I think part of my problem has been my new hobby. Wine making. I just seem to be getting right into it
ohh me too - what have you made! Just done a very ice merlot but unsure if its a good idea TBH as dont actually think having copious amounts of wine avail is a good idea for liver or waistline!! Oh no......:embarasse I have budgeted £150 per month this month for the GC. I have already spent £104 which leaves roughly about £23 per week until the end of the month. I am DETERMINED to come in under budget but just don't think I can do it. However, I do have a freezer full of meat (sausages, steak, chicken breasts) which helps. Bought an M&S half price chicken yesterday which will do for Sunday lunch (when cooked am going to freeze half and use that for sandwiches during the week). I also went to Aldi yesterday and spent abouy £10 so with the M&S chicken I have spent £13 which leaves about £10 left for the week. However, I just need to buy fruit/veg, a few tinned items, kitchen roll, bread rolls etc.
Every night I am going to make dinner last two nights. I think I just need some encouragement which I know you guys will give .....:T I REALLy want to stick to my budget.
Is this possible on just £10?Mortgage FreeSave £5,000 in 2020[CENTER:j0 -

Hi there EC12345 You can do it :T
I think that should be "do-able" -you have the most expensive items allready...a bit of creative thinking and you will be under budget :j
if you are buying cobs..have you tried the ones in LIDL? my mum always used to have them -they are in a blue wrapper -6 in a bag and they are lovely n floury and "squidgy" -they really are nice
Don't forget to turn the chicken carcass into stock for soups -...
Potatoes n onions sliced and baked in the oven with a bit of stock are one of my faves.. and makes a nice change to good old mash or steamed...
Sunnyday... I do similar with my hubby. i have a bag in the freezer that has Hm stuff in -
Chillies, cheese n potato flans, pasties and casseroles etcand then hubby is fine if im not well-other wise he will end up shoulder deep in the freezer playing "guess what it is"...
I keep things like stock and stuff that needs to be "turned into something" at the bottom of the freezer -as i know what is where, and hubby has no need for that stuff.....-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Just a quick hey-ho....
My contribution to yesterday's love fest, was to make :heart2: shaped burgers for the offspring & Pup:p I'd bought stir-fry veg on offer in MrT, but no-one fancied it & it was beginning to look a bit:( so I blitzed it with value mince, garlic, egg & some porridge oats cuz I didn't have enough bread for crumbs.
Pup has had a good dinner last night & maybe today with rice or something, or I may freeze his to use as treats for his skool. Iggy had a good feast from her share of the veg too plus I added a bit of leek to hers cuz there was no onion in that pack.
We had two good sized burgers [they had buns too] each, & the rest has almost filled a three pint casserole dish & is in the freezer to use as a meatloaf sometime soon.
Gotta go...will update later.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Lost my post!! Spent £8 yesterday in Tesco - Farmers' Market tomorrow for some more fruit and veg but have menu planned til end of month so hope to come in under budget. Dogs have kennel cough boosters to get this month and the computer is in for fixing so to come under budget would be a good thing indeed

Hi everyone, I am giving myself a public slap on the wrist for not coming here regularly - I have only read the last page so far and have already learned loads of great stuff and have two recipes to try; thankyou so much!
I've just totalled up my GC so far this month and it is £116.71 out of my £160 budget:eek: I have been stockpiling still on half price cat food etc but the offers are all over now so I won't buy any more now I promiseI'm of the school of thought that if it's on offer and I would buy it anyway then I get it as I'm saving myself money in the long-run. I have an annual total for my GC too so that it evens out over the year (although I still keep tabs on trying to achieve my monthly allowance).
Right, I'm off to catch up on at least some of this month's threadGood luck for the rest of the month!
