Have been very good since Saturday and avoided the shops. Needed bread today and Somerfield had an offer of buy 2 loaves of Hovis for £2 so bought 2 and have frozen 1.5 ! Not sure how this will go as DH doesn't like frozen bread but sometimes, we're chucking out half a loaf.
Since it's valentines day, bought some strawberries, double cream, basil and cherry tomatoes so spent £6.27.
Have taken some steaks out for dinner so planning the following, buffallo morzorello with tomato and basil drizzled in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Main course - steak with baked potatoes and pudding is meringue, cream and strawberries. So little money - so much time :mad:0 -
Have compleately stuffed up - not spent much but am ging to have to do my budget from 20-20 each month as thats my pay month - basically went o/d in actual money while having left over in the budget so will do 20/20 from now on if pepys are ok with this - means I straddle months but is the only thing that will work for my poor dyslexic brain!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi
I am so spoilt!!!!
Now got 2 excellent recipes for Fish Pie!! Can't believe how lovely and helpful everyone is.
MRS MCWABER-Printed it out and saw you can use salmon instead of smoked haddock. I'd give up chocolate for Salmon so I was pleased. Entry 3 in SFT HM recipe book complete.
Bobbykins-Thank you also. This looks a great recipe too. Thank you for taking the time to write it out. I've copied and pasted it into my HM recipe book. Entry 4 complete.
I'll definitely save money and know what I'm eating (salt etc..). OB is going to discover a new me!!
MRS MCWABER-Have got a Lidl very close. Bit scared about gammon joint-would it fit in normal large saucepan????? Am going to give it try. You're an absolute star.
Thank you both again. I had a late night trip to Mr.M tuesday night and got some fab bargains!
Amongst the usual bread rolls, bagettes and cobs that we get 4 for 9p
I also bought, 18 large home-baked sausage rolls...6 for 19p
2 tubs of four cheese sauce...was £1.29, reduced to 9p each!
4 hard boilded free range shelled eggs for 9p, was £1.39:eek:
The best bargain was ready cooked chickens that were £3.39 each...red. to 69p each, we bought 3.
We worked out that with a few other items, our stash should have cost us approx.£30 and we got the lot for £5.74:D No wonder we keep coming within our food budget:rotfl:
I spent £7.56 in Mr.S which left a very nasty taste in my mouth...Im now spoilt by Morrisons!:rotfl: I may have to reduce our food budget even more next month!
Thanks to all for some lovely recipes that are on here...I must try some out.:TLiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

I am all for bargain spotting!!
At the end of the day you save money and that food is not wasted like so much is by supermarkets.
Keep up the good work. What are you going to do with all your savings? Frugal Living 2010 member MFW by 2014 Was 88,000 now £46,877.90 Grocery Budget for Dec-April=£173.72/£244 (Groc Budget 2010 from Ebay/Voucher savings/Quidco -If we can do it will save our £980 GC budget) Now living the dream -in our tiny country cottage-all thanks to MS forums. x 39 2 go
