Hi all, this is my first post on this forum and the shopping challenge seems a good place to start. We get paid on the 10th of each month so I would like to join in the Feb challenge. I am hoping to spend £150 at the most for 2 adults and 1 5 yr old.
Also I am very interested in bulk cooking and freezing ideas. Can anyone here point me in the right direction of links in the forum, recipe ideas or good sites to visit???
I'll keep looking too and if I find anything good I'll come back and let you all know!!0 -
Hi everyone!
Please count me in for the February challenge!
I too am still in the January challenge.
I will go for £225 for my target for Feb, as the freezer is perilously low!February Grocery Challenge 262.50/250.00 - overspend - oh no!
March GC 0/300.00
Weight loss goal - lose 14 lbs by May 18th 2016 - so far 3 lbs lost0 -
I joined in January So far so good as i am under budget
But i think that i need to keep my same budget for Feb. As i am in hospital for an operation on 18th. So no doubt that will mean the odd takeaway and deffinately a few burnt dinners !! H does try but is useless in the kitchen. I do want to try to make sure i have prepared meals that can just be put in the oven and warmed through though.... For just incase
So thats me in with a budget of £260 For 3 adults and DS 12 and DS 8. Dog and rabbitfurrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:
About me. Im Choccy or Chocolate orange depending on where i am.Yes occasionally i am a total looon who spends too long online, but no where near as much £ as her spendy elves do ..:D0 -
count me in please ,
Ive done these challenges before but never really tried hard enough probably because money wasnt so short then so over spending wasnt such a big deal
oh...how times have changed ,cash is very short at the mo due to hubby not finding work ,but he starts a new job on 3rd feb so hopefully things will get better ,
but even if they do I want to cut down so that we might be able to afford an holiday this year.
my monthly spend will be £200 ,thats for 2 adults ,2 kids and a dog.0 -
Its all gone horribly wrong for me.....!!!!!! Just started to get everything sorted and felt on top of my game when....the boiler breaks!!!NOOOO!!!!....anyway, less of the whining....upshot is, this has left me SO skint that the grocery bill has to come down dramatically....have £133 for two adults, two kids (well, 19 & 16) and two wonderfully funny and destructive six month old puppies! Hoping that we won't all starve!!
Have a menu plan in mind....tattycath, sorry i haven't posted recipes yet..have been poorly so haven't had a chance to put them on computer yet...will do so within the next week or so....
Good luck everyone!!0 -

I would love to join the February grocery challenge. I kept up with the January one but never actually posted, and managed to come £2.99 under my goal for the month, so am very pleased.
Yesterday when I went into ASDA they overcharged me by £1 and I knew they had as I add up stuff on my phone as I go along, stops me from buying rubbish. I told the cashier and she told me to go to customer service, which I did and got a £1 refund, they charged me for 4 items instead of 3, they must have thought I was a nutter, adding up my stuff lol, but hey at least that's £1 in my pocket, not theirs.
Cheers

I take a calculator with me when I shop so that i know exactly how much I've spent, so if prices have increased or if there is anything in the discount section I know how much I can spend on that.
I only take cash so have to be careful not to go over.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Can I join in too this month?! Always work to a rough budget of £175 for me and Wizard Wilf so that's what I'll start with. That's to cover all food, toiletries, cleaning stuff etc.
I'll go from Jan 23rd to Feb 22nd - freezers and cupboards are well stocked so hope this will be an easy first month
Went to visit Mr S on Friday and spent £23.59 and then to the farmshop on Saturday where I bought loads of veg and our meat for the month and only spent £29.47. So £121.94 left.
Good luck all :T

Hi everyone
Welcome to all the newbies, good luck with your challenges.
I made up a menu plan using what I have in my freezer & cupboards. I just made up 30 meals so I can choose what I want to eat depending on what I feel like. I simply tick meals off as I have them, that way it's not set in stone & stuff gets used up. Then next month I can look back at what I ate & decide what I liked & use those ideas again for future meal planning. I made some lovely wholewheat pasta in white sauce & sausages for dinner tonight. I will be at a hospital appointment in the afternoon, so cooked early so my dinner is ready when I get home, no temptation to eat junk or buy junk food on the way home lol.
No spending on groceries for me today.
Cheers
