This is a wind up, right?
When the definition of LOL is written into an online dictionary it will provide a link to this thread!
If things are this bad in UK we'll be begging Greece to bail US OUT soon! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:this chap is a living legend.0 -
You have a FIRST CLASS degree in engineering from approx 1992 when degrees REALLY MEANT SOMETHING and you've never worked in 20 years!?
Sorry mate, I'm from West Mids myself & have a plethora of qualifications at degree & postgrad also (and admittedly some good work history, though I'm rarely asked to prove this. E.g stuff from yr 2000 to 2007) I'm struggling myself.....but......I quite simnply DO NOT BELIEVE YOU!
In 1992 you were a tiny elite in terms of qualification & 1st class to boot.
I'm not normally somebody who accuses people of lying on a message board but something isn't quite right about all this! LOL :rotfl:
No offence intended, just can't get my hat on!
I can see why you're struggling, you come across as someone with an extremely poor attitude who no-one would want to employ. i'm not suprised to read you are bankrupt. I hope you can make some personal changes and things might get better for you0 -

I will still carry on with the volunteering work that i've done for 20 years but am very proud to finally be able to say that I now have a paid job too.
I know how extremely difficult it is to get paid employment in this country of debt and unemployment but my message to all is...
NEVER GIVE UP:)
OK your epaulets and post counts suggest you've been here a while so those who've been here are long as you clearly have, will know whether you're on the level. (You'd have alluded to your epic search for a job before now.) As I'm a relative newbie, I have no way of knowing but my gut feeling tells me you're winding us up. You're funny if it is :rotfl:
Bad luck if it's not. But congrats all the same.0 -
my understanding of the OP was that he was disabled in some way - I have it in my mind that he is wheelchair bound but I'm not sure why I think that. He's also the guy that ages ago on other thread claimed to be able to live on £3 a week. Whilst I admire you getting a job OP and doing all the voluntary work you do you have to understand people's skepticism.0

Why be sceptical? Employers generally all have a similar set of criteria when it comes to selecting who to employ. Generally these relate more to how "likeable" a potential employee is, than their actual set of skills - or to their ability to big themselves up in the interview situation. It's often those who are able to interview well but are crap at the job, who get the jobs over those who would be great but don't interview well. Is it really unlikely that someone who does crap in interviews and doesn't come across as very likeable, gets rejected at every possible opportunity?!
When employers use the same criteria to decide who to employ, there'll be certain sets of people whose application goes in the bin first. Then of course, when someone has been unemployed a long time, it's yet another reason to stick that application straight in the bin. I think voluntary work is largely ignored by NMW employers, as it's not a "proper" job.Wanted a job, now have one. :beer:0 -
To the person who said they will only take a full-time job. This is unrealistic in many sectors including retail, caring and service industries.
To the OP, I don't know why it has taken you 20 years, but well done!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Actually if you look back through to some of the OP's original posts it seems he is a self employed musician, which he describes as a tax free occupation! There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0

ha ha ha and this comes from the lady who brands a large number of people who doubted the authenticity of this thread as "idiots" and also accused one poster as sending "nasty" comments (interestingly, nobody agreed with you on this!).
I would recommend you look more closely at yourself rather than others & quit trying to pick fights with people.
Linda D ......" I can't believe some of the down right nasty replies on this thread, shame on you people. The guy gets a job and wants to share his joy with the forum while giving a bit of hope to others in his position. Then he gets attacked, unbelievable.
Congratulations Dave on your new job, I hope it will go well for you:T:beer::jYou're a lot better person than some of the idiots on this thread.".............
HOWEVER, here "charitable nature" is far from universal, you're not surprised I went bankrupt then? Ha ha ha you've betrayed yourself with that one, just as you did when you branded people idiots. The varying reasons for bankruptcy are almost infinite so to apply them to somebody's attitude is lame and hollow. :rotfl:
A great many people quite simply don't believe that a 1st class engineering degreed graduate in the industrialised, boom time for a large period of the last 20 yrs, West Midlands has had no job for 20yrs. Let alone beat 200 people, including CLEANERS to a cleaning 5hr cleaning job! That's our perogative & we don't need to go around dishing out insults when we make it either, unlike yourself.0 -
Again, it's a wind up.0
