Well done OP, it may only be 5 hours but you have the option of doing OT or even doing a second job.0

200 people applied for a part time cleaning job!!!!!.
Use the experience and then try to get on with a hospital using the buffer machines- they get paid quite a lot. More than NMW.0 -
Congratulations - must feel brilliant. Well done!0

May I ask how you supported yourself for those 20 years? Not being critical, I just have absolutely no idea how these things work!
And well done. Might 'only' be a 5hr cleaning job but you beat a hell of a lot of competition to get it, so that says something.0 -
How on earth did it take 20 years? You emailing blank applications or something? That is just ridiculous0

Was pleased for you until you said what the job was - epic fail.0

Nearly 4 years here since my masters (during which I was seeking paid employment), 7 years since my degree. Think chances are I'll be in the same boat in 20 or 30 years, but the way I feel chances are I'll have committed suicide by that time. Granted I do have a disability which makes interviews go carp. I have an unpaid work experience placement, which I suppose is something to look forward to - but I need paid work.
I wouldn't consider 5 hours a week to be much either. Sure enough it's a move to paid employment but not much. Minimum wage I have no issues with and would take a minimum wage job at the drop of a hat, but only a full time one. Biggest problem is.... if it's a couple of hours a day, by the time you have travelled there, you've spent your wages and there's no point bothering - not sure you can even get WTC on those hours.
Even with a full time minimum wage job, you have to wonder if it's actually worth it financially after the cost of travelling to work. Partner recently lost her job, and all things considered, we're not actually all that worse off, with CTB, HB, and JSA. WTC was just a joke.Wanted a job, now have one. :beer:0
