No Buying Unnecessary toiletries in June

 Not good - I wouldn't have thought that would slip through Selfridges.
I had reflexology this morning as a treat and feel lovely and relaxed now. I have missed getting treatments done on a regular basis but I did have to cut my spending drastically two years ago. I have decided that with the money I have been saving not spending on here I will have a monthly treat. I have booked next months already - back, neck and Indian head massage. Can't wait!
The ironic thing is that Selfridges had given me the gift token to apologise for selling my brother some posh chocolate that was six months out of date  We were stunned by that (it was a birthday present) and can't believe that something else so careless has happened...
I think it's a fab idea to put the money you save here towards special treatments :T0 -
Also, it seems that Kipling Monkey has had an amazing month! :T:TCongrats to Kiplingmonkey as well
Thanks guys - think I have finally had my LBM and find it quite satisfying not to have to find space for more INs - it will be really good to end this year with a minus - when I started my spreadsheet way back in the mists of time I had 648 items and as you can see they have multiplied and some....I really want to crack this and think I may have turned a corner!UUUUUUggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
My order from Selfridges just arrived and one of the items was used. They are replacing it, but honestly!
Oh Willowbee that is vile. I would have expected better from that store! Ages ago I went in the London store with my sister - they had some liquorice pick and mix (although it wasn't called that, being S'fridges). It wasn't obvious where you went to pay so we queued at a chocolate counter for ages and when it was finally our turn the assistant looked at us as though we were something unpleasant that had been trodden in off the street on the bottom of her shoe and said in the most condescending tone imaginable - 'Oh, you haven't waited to pay for those have you - you need to go over there'. Glad their customer care is improved and you are getting it sorted.
I also have another UU:
Decleor 10 day radiance powder cure - WBA definately - this has been in the stash for ages as I have been saving it to use before a holiday/special event. Only trouble is I kept forgetting so decided to get it out just over a week ago and give it a whirl for no reason other than I fancied giving it a go. It definately made a difference - my skin looks clearer. I also have a slight brown pigmentation mark on my cheek (not sure whether this is left from my second pregnancy or whether it is a bit of sun damage) anyway, after 10 days, this is definately smaller and less noticeable. The bottle has a seperate powder which you mix with the liquid. Because it is vitamin c it is only effective for 10 days (hence the name I guess). Highly recommended and will be repurchasing to use before a special event.Blimey Kiplingmonkey, does it really cost £64 per head to see a west end show? I am speechless. You got a good deal though.
Yes - it is staggering, especially when they don't normally discount for children. We were rather spoilt a couple of months ago when we went to see Shrek and were upgraded from the cheap balcony seats to the front row of the stalls at no extra charge. At least with Mama Mia I know we have good seats for that price. Next on our list is Matilda but it won so many Olivier awards that it will be quite hard to get tickets.
Sorry for the long post - have a good week everyone - hope you get some sunshine this week.0 -
Kiplingmonkey - I add my congrats to you too, is most of your stash makeup items?
Your theatre trip sounds good, I keep looking into a trip to London and maybe a show but to go by train (even cheap tickets) then everything else on top would cost as much as a good holiday. I live in Yorkshire but you would think I was travelling from another country when you look at train fares.
Can hardly believe Selfridges would be so slack, but to happen twice to you Willowbee is pretty disgraceful really.
A little while ago I bought some Barbara Daly for Tesco eyeshadows and have been using them regularly since, I have to say they are fab, they aren't dirt cheap but are on 3 for 2 pretty much all the time. They do some eye souffles which are beyond gorgeous, I have two, driftwood and haze and their single matt eyeshadows are fab too. Has anyone else tried this range?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

My stash is make up and toiletry - basically anything beauty related so I do include all make up, nail varnish, face products and body products. I have a categorised spreadsheet and my hot spots are body products, moisturisers and masks and lots of make up. I am pretty good at doing cleanse, tone & moisturise routine every day, twice a day but ought to try harder to use masks regularly. Body scrubs are also a thing that I need to get into a routine with. Some of my make up I ought to ditch as well but it is just finding the time to do it. I need to be better at getting rid of things that don't suit me rather than hanging on to them 'in case'. However, this challenge is making me use up the older stuff first which is good but I just need to make sure that nice things don't end up 'past it'.
I agree train fares are scary - we are lucky as we are quite close to London - last year I got a Family Railcard with my Tesco vouchers :money::money: so off peak it only costs about £12 return (inc tube fares) for me and both my DDs to go to London and back. Will definately be renewing the railcard.0 -

k.
Sounds like something I should try (once stash has gone of course) I'll add to my to try list.0 -
Suidreams - to their credit, the customer service lady at Selfridges was very apologetic and said that a replacement would be sent out asap. I'm going to photograph it and send a follow up email to head office though as it was really grim
I'm the same with foundation/base - it all depends on how my skin really is. All I really want is settled skin and one light base that evens tone. If my skin is in a good phase then I'm happy with mineral powder or the Liz Earle tint. If it's in a bad phase...well, I'm still working on how to solve that!My main prob is enlarged pores around my nose as lots of foundations just sink into them and make them look awful  Some bases also make my skin go oily (I fear The PoreFessional causes my skin to produce lots of oil, which is a great shame
) The Invisible Zinc powder I got today looks very promising though, so I will report back on that
At least your getting good service now, but it shouldn't have happened. Luckily I'm getting on really well with the Porefessional, but my skin tends to be on the dry side (and often blochey rarely spotty luckily), often red/pink. The EL serum seemed to help a lot, but the current serum I'm using isn't helping0 -
One more UU John Masters Organics Lip Calm 4g really loved this it came in my first Amarya box would love to buy again, but is £6 too much for lip balm? Any have loads of lip balms in the stash anyway. Will try using up what's already open, without opening any more, but find the open ones not Moisturising enough.0

Its interesting how different products have opposite effects on different skin types - I've been using POREfessional for the last couple of days and by this time of day the sides of my nose particularly normally feel really oily but don't with this product - well its either that or the Weleda Pomegranate Firming Day Cream as I've been using the two together (I'm trying to UU a No. 7 Essential Moisture day cream but it seems to be taking forever and I don't particularly like it, or probably more accurately, because I don't particularly like it!! So I'm taking a break from that).
I hope its not the Weleda that's working wonders, as much as I want to like it in its defiant red packaging, I can't stand the smell! More cinnamon than pomegranate to my nose, nice in a candle or on a bun but not on my face!! :rotfl:
Shocking re: Selfridges btw Wil, would expect better from them! Its soo disappointing when something arrives damaged etc too.
I'm tempted to try and get some more POREfessional if there's still any copies of Glamour knocking about - there were quite a few in my local shop, don't think anyone else had cottoned onto where they were keeping the spares down under the bottom shelf (I of course had ransacked the place the day it came out) So I may be in luck!
One UU this morn - Pantene Repair and Protect shampoo sachet - I've not used Pantene since the days of living at home and Mum still being in charge of toiletry buying! Got to say I'm really quite impressed, my hair seemed to like it - wouldn't really have thought of something so cheap being any good, think I've been a bit brainwashed by hairdressers in the past into thinking you've got to spend quite a bit on shampoo and conditioner for them to be any good. That's the beauty of sachets! WBA
Finally breaking even for the month :T Its been an effort and in some weird respect a bit stressful?!
Listed some items on Ebay yesterday and put a couple of things on the FB swap group so feeling organised0 -
Can anyone recommend a good hair masque for brittle hair? I've noticed mine has been snapping off at the ends a bit0

A few ins today, I received the L'oreal Everpure samples in the post this morning, shampoo and conditioner. Looking forward to trying this.
Also (whispers) my Body Shop delivery arrived, I did an order because I wanted some of their handwash for DD as she has started with eczema on her hand and we think it is the soap at school, so I bought two spiced vanilla handwashes as these are soap free, also got her two tins of hemp balm. Then to make the order up for free delivery I got the following:
2 x Raspberry Ripple Shower Gel
1 x Candied Ginger bubble bath
1 x Cranberry Joy bubble bath
1 x Spiced Vanilla bath and shower gel
In the stash I have a Candied Ginger body butter and a Cranberry Joy so these will be used together. The whole lot came to £17.20 including DD's bits as it was all in the sale.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
