My birthday today. I am 36! I don't mind too much about turning 36 as I don't feel it's too old (yet!!!).
The flu is more or less gone and it is my first day of job. I haven't worked in an office for over 6 years so it's lovely to have a bit of company.
Debt wise - this month I am hoping to clear OH's Tesco card and also to make a dent in my BOI card. There is still a bit to go until the end of the month though, so I need to rein myself in a bitTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Lol - maybe I have too much time to think now I am working 2 days per week
I am now thinking of getting rid of most of my debts except the RBS one. When my MBNA is paid off they will most likely offer me a 0% balance transfer for 12/15 months and I could put the RBS on that. This would mean that we could start saving for a house (potentially start from around June this year) and hopefully buy around June 2014.
I am confident that we have turned a corner with regards unnecessary spending and that we can pay off the remaining debt once we get a house. We currently pay €950 rent per month and after all expenses have quite a bit to service our debt, and to operpay on the mortgage once the debt has gone. We would be left with about £11,000 debt.

I'd clear the debt first, what's a few more months in rented against finally having this weight lifted?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

The voice of reason! I was hoping you would pop by!
Yes, I think you are right. I just want our next move to be into a house we buy rather than a rented one. We want to move to the next town over and need an address there so we can register Max into school. There are a lot of 'what ifs' but potentially I can use my aunts address until we do move.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Dear God, I'm your voice of reason?! Get your ears tested.
Use your aunt's address, I would give my right arm to have a clear debt clearing path ahead of me, and be able to put that phase of my life behind me, and just be able to enjoy my money and my child and feel like I've earned it, not always think 'I shouldn't have done that', start making some happy memories with my free money rather than feeding the plastic.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Lol - you have a more logical mind than you give yourself credit for!
Yes, I think it would be best to get rid of the debt once and for all. I am just so impatient to get rid. Having said that, I have a good mindset this year and have my eye firmly on getting a house, and so far, this has stopped me overspending.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
