Good news about the job with your OH, would be great if he is home by christmas.

Well done in starting to get organised for christmas. I am the same trying to spread it out a bit. Got Poppy one present so far but am saving up tesco points to get her something else so got to wait for november for the points exchange. The pram is so cute you are getting Evie, Poppy loves her dolly pushchair.

I would suggest maybe a boat ride round the statue of liberty although you could just go down and see it from shore. We did a helicopter ride round it which was brilliant.

We didn't have to queue long for tickets for the shows, think about half an hour but we did go a while ago!

Best place we found for shopping was Century21 down near wall street, some fantastic bargains and an area we found ourselves in a lot anyway.

  • Hi all,

I am back and I am staying this time instead of dipping in and out. Have been massively overspending. I think I was excited about OH coming home and our first Xmas in a house so I bought loads of Xmas stuff.

No more - I am not even going to wait until Jan to start paying stuff back. It all starts when OH next gets paid (end of Nov).

This is my final lightbulb. If I don't change now, my children are going to grow up watching us spending unwisely and always being in debt :(

I have been having fun, too much fun SavingH, and that is half the problem. I am going to get on top of it this time though.

  • I have just amended my sig and the debt is slightly down from what it was.

I can't believe I am still here with the same out of debt circa 7 years or so since I joined the board. Ahhhhh - when will I ever learn :(

I have kept away from the shops - both online and in real life. I need to get my spending under control. My problem is I carried away by deals and end up buying clothes for the kids, or gadgets/stuff that we don't need. DD's wardrobe is ridiculously full and DS's isn't much better.

Luckily I am not completely stupid and I haven't gone overboard on Xmas for them.

I can't wait to get back on the debt busting wagon. Just need to wait for payday now.
