Oh gosh what a scare with your DS, CMD. I am glad he is okay and it was not the dreaded M.

I'm so happy to hear about your OH job, sounds like it was a great move even if it delays plans a little.

It was a great idea about the letter, Star. I hope it pays off, CMD. Next door turned down higher offers to sell their house to a lovely young couple. They had bought this house from new in 1970 and wanted to pass it on to someone in the same situation. It does warm the heart to hear these stories!

Have a nice weekend, hope the weather has improved for your BBQ.

Thanks Lara and Star. Well I did send the letter but they didn't even acknowledge it and went sale agreed. I'm not too disappointed as obviously not meant to be, but I am disappointed that didn't even send a quick email.

Well, not been on for absolutely ages. OH ended up having to the US for 2 weeks with his new job so I was flat out with the kids, work and having to bring DS to the GP each week to get his urine and blood pressure checked. Thankfully all is good with him and everything came back clear.

OH loves the new job. The atmosphere and environment seem to be very positive. The spends seem to have gone out of control a bit as obviously he had an unexpected trip away for 2 weeks and although all the meals were paid for, he went out and about and did a few things.

So July will be about getting back on track and being in control. The house deposit is not looking too bad now. If I could round it off to €27,000 next month I'd be very happy. I have put some stuff on the credit card because of the medical expenses but I should clear it within the next few months.

Had a lovely weekend and was out 2 nights in a row. Not able for it anymore! Then had a lovely day at a family event yesterday. It was lovely to just chill out and the kids had a ball!

Hi CMD. Sorry to hear about the house. Obviously there is a better one out there for you.

Glad DS is okay and DH is enjoying his new job. I'm sure you'll get back on top of your spending once he's settled in (and not in US ;) )

Your weekend sounds lovely, if a little exhausting! Two nights in a row? Not at my age :rotfl:

Back on here again after another long spell away. Need to update more regularly.

Bit all over the place at the moment. We both have some money on our credit cards as we have let things slide a bit. I am back on top of it again now and fingers crossed should pay off mine at the end of August (if not before then) and OH's a few months after that.

House deposit wise, we are still ticking along. Should be able to go for mortgage approval at the end of October so not too long to go. OH's job is going well. His pay is still all over the place because he got paid too much last month and too little this month so I am hoping August will be more settled and I can plan a bit more.

We went away for a few days a couple of weeks ago and myself and OH have a weekend planned in August and then all of us are going to Scotland for 4 weeks just before DS starts big school. The flights were €90 for the 4 of us and we stay with a friend so a no brainer. The other weekend away has been paid for so no major expenses holiday wise.

Hi CMD, did you have a nice holiday?

Money totals are looking good. I'm sure you'll be back on top of the c/c in no time at all. That's a bit pants about DH's wages. Hopefully they'll sort it out now for next month.

Yes, we had a lovely few days thanks. The kids really enjoyed swimming in the hotel pool so am going to book them into lessons in September. I would love if they were confident in the water by the time we go to Spain next May.

How are your two? Are they enjoying the holidays?

Yes they are. Haven't realy done much so far this week as we had a very busy week last week visiting the in laws. So we have just been chilling in the house and the local area. Need to make some plans for next week although the weather hasn't been very kind here :(

  • So long since I've written. We had a lovely summer and ended up the summer holidays with myself and OH going to Brighton to celebrate a friends 40th and the following weekend we brought the kids to Edinburgh for a few days.

Max started school yesterday. It went really well. I was so relieved. He looked so smart in his uniform.

Debt wise we still have some money on our Irish credit cards so need to get rid of that. The house deposit is building up again and we should be ready to look for a mortgage at the end of October so it hasn't been too long coming around. I have Spring 2016 in my mind for buying a house.

  • Not been on for a while again. All good here. I got a ticket to an All Ireland final on Sunday and we won! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I'm so glad I went! But obviously was an unplanned expense. There seems to be a lot of unplanned expenditure at the moment. Need to rein things in a bit.

I started Slimming World 2 weeks ago and have lost 1/2 stone. Another 13 lbs to go and I'll be at target. I am dreading the weigh in this week though, as I was out Saturday night and all day Sunday plus had chippie chips both nights. They were delicious though!

In housing news - myself and OH had a talk and we've decided to save for the other town that we both prefer. So fingers crossed prices won't shoot up. They seem to have stabilised a bit. We are looking at next June and I need to re-amend my mortgage target
