Nothing too much to report. Am delighted to have one of my credit cards down to zero. The other is at 0% so no point in overpaying it. So my signature won't go down much over the next while. My savings will go up though, which is good.
Had a lovely weekend. Was out for a meal with work on Friday night (budgeted for) and on Saturday we brought the kids to get their feet measured. We went to a Clark's outlet so it cost €28 for 2 pairs of shoes instead of €58 :money::money::money::money: Am very happy with that! Also went for afternoon tea with my schoolfriends on Sunday. I won a competition there 2 years ago and they very kindly let me use that voucher so it didn't cost too much (we divided it up between 4 rather than me paying nothing and the others having a full cost). This was also budgeted for. It's very unusual for me to have such a social weekend aside for kiddie activities so I'm tired today.
I also cashed out OnePoll but have decided I will buy some summer clothes for the kids from Next as they are in need of new clothes after me not buying anything since Jan. So didn't quite make the 6 month ban but I won't need to add much money to it and I have learnt my lesson re: them having too many clothes.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Feel a bit aimless at the moment! I won't be making any dents into my credit card and will be saving again but we were all gung-ho to buy a house and now we have to wait 6 months. First world problems and all that but just feel a bit flat
Had a nice weekend. I was working for 1/2 a day on Saturday and my Mam babysit Saturday evening and myself and OH went to a local pub for a meal and a few drinks. We hadn't been out just the 2 of us for literally months so it was good to chat.
On Sunday OH had to work and the weather wasn't great so I took the kids to see 2x2 in the cinema. On the way home we met and friend and her children so they came back for the afternoon and we had copious cups of tea!
We are minding my nieces this weekend so will be a quiet enough one. Can't wait for OH to get paid next MondayTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Sorry you feel a bit aimless at the moment. I know it's hard but it is worth waiting the extra 6 months as OH has a better job now
Plus look how low your debts are now :TGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Morning all!
OH got paid today so just did my money re-shuffle. Am happy to be building up my emergency fund and will be thrilled when it reaches €1,000 as it will be a lovely buffer towards unexpected expenses.
We had a very spendy month last month. Lots and lots of takeaways and treats. This month will be tight - the last tight month we have for a while hopefully as DS & DD will be finished Montessori for the summer and I will have an extra €360 per month. I am determined we will have a nice summer so will use that money for days out etc!
Everyone I know seems to be going on their hols. I must admit I have been browsing the holiday sites the past few days. MUST KEEP AWAY! We are having another staycation this year, and at that, it is just 2 nights in a hotel so am feeling extremely hard done by.
The house we had been hoping to bid on still isn't sale agreed so I am going to write a letter to explain our position and see if we can come to some sort of arrangement to buy it when OH passes his probation. Am not expecting anything but - you don't ask, you don't get!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

360E (Don't seem to have a proper Euro sign on my keyboard!) that's a massive amount to suddenly have spare a month. Will you need childcare at all during the summer holidays? I still send DS to nursery over the holidays (one day a week and it's a pretty short day as well really) as if I don't I may lose his place and I'll need it again in September.
Re: the house. It is definitely worth writing the letter. When my granddad died we had a buyer lined up for his house and due to circumstances out of their control they were suddenly unable to get a mortgage for 6 months. My mum was so keen that the house go to a young couple (my grandparents had been a young couple when they bought it many moons ago) that we agreed to rent it to them short term and our solicitor drew up a rental agreement that ended on the day their mortgage would finally come through. They were happy that they didn't lose their dream home and we were happy that we didn't have the stress of finding a new buyer. They still live there now. You never know unless you ask!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Hi Star,
That's very interesting to read about your Grandad's house. Maybe we will be lucky too.
Yes, I need childcare over the summer. My Mam and aunt minds the kids so as well as paying €360 for the Montessori we also pay my aunt €220. My Mam won't take any money. The Montessori shuts from end of June to September.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Afternoon all.
So I wrote the letter to that couple and send it. My cousin knew their name so addressed it to Mr. and Mrs. At least I feel better that we sent it, rather than worrying about what if.
I don't think I'll even stress about them replying. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Exactly. You have done your bit and if it's the house for you, you will get it. If not, it means there's a better house out there for you.
That's good news about childcare then - a big saving!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000
