We ended up bringing poor DD to the out of hours doctor last night. As soon as I came home I rang the centre as she looked awful. Turns out she has tonsillitis, poor thing :( So between the out of ours fee, antibiotic and having to eat take away food we had to put €100 on the credit card  A sick child is a sick child though. It further emphasises the need for my anti-anxiety (emergency fund). I will start this when OH gets paid on Friday.

I have put €100 aside this month into an emergency fund. I will be dipping in and out of it but I guess that's what it's there for!

Haven't been on in a while. It's all go here. We have all our paperwork ready and are meeting the broker next Tuesday to put in our mortgage application. There are a few things with our application that makes me think they are going to come back and say come back to us in 6 months time.

In the meantime, the house we love has been reduced by €20,000 so it is definitely at an attractive price for us. We are going to see it again tomorrow but I've a feeling it will go quickly and not to us.

And in other news, OH is going for a job interview today. This job has come up out of the blue. Jobs in OH's area are few and far between. He really doesn't like where he is so I would love for him to get it. Plus there are perks too - a free gym, free lunch, health insurance and he could get public transport a few days a week to it too, so would cut down on the need for 2 cars, and presumably a wage increase. However, it could put a stop to the mortgage as you would need to have passed your probation, which will probably be 6 months.

Weighing everything up though, I would prefer if he had a happier work environment, so if it means another 6-8 months without a house, so be it.

I am so sick of putting all (I mean all) our money into savings or credit card. I haven't bought clothes in such a long time. Our life has been on hold since 2012, no foreign holidays or mad expenses. I just want to 'live' again!

I know what will be will be, but it's good to vent!!!

I know what you mean about your life being on hold. I feel the same way. It's so frustrating isn't it?

Fingers crossed for both your mortgage application and OH's interview.

I was shocked to see on FB that you have to pay for medical care. I obviously missed that in the news, that's terrible. It makes me so nervous that the government seem so hell bent on selling off the NHS. It was put there for a reason and that reason is still there now!!

Sorry I won't rant on your page. Hope everyone is well again x

It's a disgrace. We already have to pay for the GP and prescriptions and now they are putting a loading onto private health insurance if we don't purchase it by tomorrow. Still haven't purchased it. Am so resentful of having to pay €68 a month for a really bad health service. Not sure if I will purchase to be honest.

Yes - very frustrating to have my life on hold. I just want to get on with stuff and have a house. Not even much to ask for lol. Not even like we are going to be living in a fancy town, although the estate we want is lovely.

Everyone is well thanks :) x

You get a loading, so for every year after you are 34 if you take out private health insurance you have to pay 2% more than anyone under 34. So if I got health insurance tomorrow I'd have to pay 8% more because I am 38. It's scandalous.

I got it anyway but really resent it as it's the basic package so not worth a thing :(

So sorry to hear you are going through this too DFW321 :( It's such a horrible feeling, this feeling in limbo. Can't believe the mortgage company did that to you. You must have been devastated.
