Whoop whoop whoop! We have reached our house target! Anything we make after this will go on furniture, paint etc. I don't think we will need the full €30,000 either but I am overestimating all the costs rather than underestimating.
OH got paid today and he got a nice bit of overtime payment but I want to see where we are with my wages before I pay anything off the credit card as I need to work out all our outgoings for this month. Feels great to have that amount saved though. I am thrilled
We went for the second viewing on Monday. There are lots of questions we have about damp patches etc but I've decided we'll take my uncle (who's a builder) with us to the next viewing to work out exactly what needs to be done. I told the estate agent that I thought they were being unrealistic with the price and he said they are open to offers so I am hoping we can negotiate the price.

You must be grinning from ear to ear. Well done. You have worked hard for this. Hopefully the house viewing and possible buying will all go smoothly for you xGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Thanks Star. Yes am delighted to have reached our target for the deposit. I just hope having such a balance on our. BOI credit card doesn't go against us too much.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I know it's not really the way to go but if they say that your BOI balance will really affect your mortgage chances then I would look at using some of the savings to pay off the BOI short term and then buy furniture on the cc. As long as you don't go over board and you end up in the same position or better with a house then it may be worth doing. Obviously depending on your circumstances, interest rate, and how it would affect (if at all) your mortgage chances etcGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

I really wish I could pay the card off but it's a really strict system in Ireland. They want to see consistent savings and if I was to take some of my savings to pay a card off I'd have to wait 6 months to apply for a mortgage as you need at least 6 months consistent savings. Madness!
Just waiting for my wages to land before I make the big payment off the card. I have been assured that my wages should be in by Friday which is great. I am hoping to just sneak in under 11k this month. Then I will look at extra ways to make cash.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Ah! I didn't realise that! Never mind it was only a suggestion anyway. Have you seen a mortgage broker yet?Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
I know it's a mad system. I have a feeling they will come back to us and tell us to save for another 6 months anyway. We have a broker so will contact him on the 31st and see what he comes back with.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Paid off my credit card tonight. Still over the 11k but I am hopeful I can claw back some money and get under the 11k over the next few weeks which would be a great psychological boost.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
