Sound like you've got the presents sorted. Well done. It's so tempting to spend a lot of money on presents especially for kids. Great use of vouchers too. I'm very impressed.

You sound very focused. And done worry too much about the overspend. 5 week months are cruel!!!

    Thanks Star,

5 week months are so disheartening. This morning I felt like we were back at square one but then when I organised the presents I felt more in control. On reflection I'm going to roll the underspend onto April as my parents are bringing us away for Easter so will need extra spends.

  • Just lost a huge post. Ahhh so annoying.

Payday for OH today. We will only be paying a small amount of this month due to the 5 week month last month. Hopefully we'll get back on track next month.

We started YNAB and it is a real eye-opener. We must have been really frittering away money before. I am looking forward to using it. It will be a tight 6-8 months but I'm hopeful we will be able to loosen up the reins a little bit then. We don't have to pay Montessori fees from the end of June onwards so will have €360 extra per month to pay off the credit cards.

Am feeling very MSE about the house deposit. We are nearly at the target anymore after €30,000 will be to furnish the place!!! :money::money::money:

  • Forgot to say too that OH got paid €150 overtime so that will definitely go into the credit card, but not likely to reflect on here due to interest to pay etc. Better than nothing though.

Wow you are so close CMD. Imagine all that extra cash each month!! DS has started school every afternoon so our nursery fees have dropped by almost half. We have been throwing that money to the loan and it feels really good.

    Yay to payday. :j

  • Thanks Star. Yes am delighted with the house deposit savings. Just need to rein ourselves in now and get rid of the credit card debt.

  • Feel awful here today. Have had a cold for a week and I seem to be getting worse, not better. My nose is all blocked and my head feels like it will explode.

Went for a tea with some friends this morning and also got some sweets for DS's birthday but had some cash in my purse from last month so don't need to YNAB it.

On the plus side, my washing basket is now empty!!!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. We had a lovely time, we had a friend stay with us. We went to the Natural History Museum and a playground with the kids yesterday. We then went to Pizza Express. We had a voucher towards it but it still cost a good bit (budgeted for).

Last night we were going to go out but decided to stay in. We had lots of alcohol leftover from Xmas so I am delighted with the going out fund as it is looking very healthy today!

DS is 5 tomorrow!!! We are having a tea party at home. Have bought all the food and it has come from the food budget so the budget is looking a bit depleted but still on target for the month. Am loving YNAB so far. I can see why people say it changes their lives. It certainly seems to be helping us control our spends anyway.

Another week has passed! DS had a lovely birthday. It was a cheap and cheerful party with old fashioned games and an ice cream cake and he loved it!

We had a nice weekend. My niece was 1 yesterday and we had a really lovely day. Birdie made me one of her frames and it was extremely well received so thanks so much Birdie. You might have a few more orders from some random Irish people. I was telling them all about The Robyn's Nest!!! Today we went to a pet farm and the DS spent his birthday money in Smyths.

Budget wise things are okay. We are still on track with the present fund, going out budget, petrol & groceries. Am loving YNAB. We are not using it all properly yet but it is still very effective.

It will be a tight 2 weeks especially with Paddy's Day coming up and DH has a long weekend next weekend (we tend to spend more money when he is off!) but manageable I hope. DH has signed up for some overtime over the next few weeks too so that will be some more cash off the credit cards.
