  • Thanks Star will definitely look for the discount codes. Am hoping we do get on with it. OH is more technically minded than me so am hoping he gets to grips with it and tells me how to use it!

I know a lot of people save a lot of money by not wasting when they use it. So it's definitely worth a try

Definitely worth a try for us. We have a good amount of disposable income but have been wasting it and racking up more debt for years. Wish I'd been savvy in my 20s!

  • Looking forward to OH's payday next week so I can implement a proper budget. My budget has all gone awry this month because it's a 5 day month. We had to bring DS to an out of hours doctor last night too as his temp was 104. Turns out it was viral but I was glad we went. Cost us 60euro though.

Have sold some kids clothes on a local selling site. It will help pay towards my nieces birthday presents but I can't offset the difference against a credit card because we have so many presents to buy in March. Just have to hope that we can break even, or take money from the going out fund.

Aw well, I've 20 years left of my 30's to get savvy. Don't want to enter my 4th decade with lots of debt!

  • We are going to be able to pay very little off our debts in March. This month's 5 week month was really difficult for us. We had to pay for a weeks extra groceries, petrol, child minder, Montessori and my travel to work. Altogether this costs an extra €350. We are also going to a christening tomorrow and the petrol will cost €50. Now that I know it's due to the extra week rather than me overspending it lessens the blow a bit.

Presents for March not looking too bad now
DS's birthday: having a low key tea party and will use party spends from my food budget. Already bought his present with a voucher.

Niece 1 birthday - have ordered from The Robyns Nest & will use Next code to buy a dress. I have money for this in PayPal as I sold stuff on a local site

Niece 2 birthday - dress from Next covered from code and PayPal. I have already ordered and paid for other present from Amazon.

Mothers Day mother in law - found a really nice present in my wardrobe that she will love. 0 spend.

Mothers Day - My Mam. Am going halves with my sister. She bought a beautiful plaque already. I am going to buy an Easter Egg (have a Tesco voucher for this). Will also buy a plant/flowers from Tesco and have a voucher so the most I'll have to put towards it is €5.

Friends daughter - have a gift in the wardrobe and will buy a top. The most I'll spend is €10

So looks like I'll have a present underspend of €85 in March, which would be great and could be redirected towards the credit card.

Sound like you've got the presents sorted. Well done. It's so tempting to spend a lot of money on presents especially for kids. Great use of vouchers too. I'm very impressed.

You sound very focused. And done worry too much about the overspend. 5 week months are cruel!!!
