Signature has been amended to reflect credit card payments decreasing and the mortgage savings increasing. I feel like the credit card payments aren't decreasing by that much at the moment but they are going down and that is the main thing. Currently I am paying pre-school fees of €360 per month and also €200 towards my tax for my self-employment for last year so once both of them are finished (pre-school end of June and tax end of Oct) there will be a lot more money freed up.
The interview went well for OH today. He said it was very tough but he got a really good vibe and the interviewers were very nice. He doesn't think he got it but he constantly undervalues himself so I'm hoping it's his usual negativity shining through. He only has to give 1 months notice at work so if he were to get it I think our house buying will be scuppered until early next year. C'est la vie. I'd rather he was happy in work and the upshot would be that we would have a lot more money saved.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I had a really nice bank holiday weekend. Myself and my sister brought our Mam out for her birthday on Saturday. We had a meal and a few cocktails so it was lovely.
Today we went to the cinema with the kids and then to a playground that they love, then on to my Mam and Dad's again for dinner. They are on a sleepover with them tonight as we have a very early meeting with the mortgage broker tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed he has good news for us.
OH still hasn't heard from the job. His nerves are in tatters. He really wants it. I really hope he gets it.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

The meeting with the broker went well today. We still have some documents we are waiting on so he can't proceed until we have them. He was very good and very honest. He is concerned about the credit card balance and we may have to have a 20% deposit which would rule us out for a while.
He said he would test the waters when he has all the documents. In the meantime he didn't see any reason why we couldn't bid on our property. So fingers and toes crossed all goes well.
OH still hasn't heard about the job. Am hoping no news is good news but he is so stressed about the whole thing. I wish they'd let him know soon.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hope your DH hears about the job soon, it's awful waiting for news!
Hope you get good news re: the mortgage too.
Crappy stuff about having to pay for health insurance, and the loading nonsense according to age, how rubbish!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Quick update. OH got the job! He just needs to negotiate terms and conditions and then should get an official contract. I am thrilled for him!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

That's brilliant news, CMD, congrats to him! Even if it does affect your house-buying plans, then I think you're right - a happy OH is worth an awful lotLBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380

So some good news and not so good news. OH got his contract and he got an excellent pay rise, gets health insurance (so can cancel the one above) and gets a free travel pass to work (so no longer has to use the car when they move office in 6 months time). I have worked out that we should be about €700 better off per month which is amazing.
The not so good news is that we have to wait until he passes his probation to apply for a mortgage, so the house purchase has been pt back againWith that in mind, and to cheer me up, I have paid off one of the credit cards. It takes a lot of pressure off us as it isn't 0% and will make our next mortgage application very straightforward. So my debt total has gone way down to the lowest it's ever been! I won't be making much inroads on the Virgin Card, as it is at 0% until April 2016, so makes sense for me to save. My house deposit has also gone down but it will be back up at the level we need (if not more) by December.
So all good reallyTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
