I took Flucloxacillan and its gone down almost to normal - infact, I would say if I didn't know how bad it was, I wouldn't even notice. Does this mean it should be ok ?

Ok... at least MRSA can be cured. I had a horrible feeling it was some sort of lifetime disease or something!!!! I've done so many searches in the last 6 minutes :rotfl:

I shall see how I go and INSIST at my doctors appointment on friday that they test me for MRSA.

I'm going to sound such a hyperchondriac. I am ready to whip my foof out for anyone now! If you have a plan on how to stop these forever, I'll do it!

The fact that the flucloxacillin has worked so well suggests it isn't MRSA. And many of us have MRSA living happily and harmlessly on their skin which is only a problem if it gets into the bloodstream. So try not to panic.

Your complaint to your doctor, if you make it formal, should go to the practice manager. However I would find a new one asap. If you look on NHS choices you can find a list of practices in your area. If you can't find one, you can refer to your PCT (while it still exists).

It's a whole other thread, but au naturel has its advantages!

    Good luck :)

Hi sorry to panic you-flucloxacillin can work against some strains of MRSA but not others-the chances are you don't have it as it's worked so well but always better to be on the safe side,if I'd been diagnosed sooner I wouldn't have gone through 5 months of hell and infected 3 of my children.

Just a quickie, coinx, I've been trying the Palmers Cocoa Butter AHA/BHA moisturiser for a few days and it's fab for your skin. Should really lessen the chance of ingrown hairs while you decide about laser treatment and I've never used anything that gives softer skin. Absolute bargain too - £4 for a massive tube, I'm gobsmacked at how good it is. It might smart a bit on broken skin though.

I'm currently in a dilemma with moisturising to be honest!

If it an ingrown hair, keeping my skin moisturised will be good to prevent them.

If I have a different issue, then it could make it worse by blocking the pores up? Hmm. I've brought some Vaseline moisturiser to use and see how I go. Vaseline is really kind to my skin, so hopefully it'll work!

Eeek, no, don't. It's an exfoliant you need rather than a moisturiser - I know I called it a moisturiser but it's really a chemical exfoliant - sorry, I should have been clearer. An AHA/BHA will keep your pores clear and open by constantly shedding the top layer of skin so it won't seal in anything nasty or block any hair follicles. A moisturiser without AHA/BHA will probably block your pores and make things worse. Sorrrrrry!

Glad you are on the mend OP!

I second the suggestion of a decent exfoliator.

Can I also make a further suggestion...why don't you wax? Many salons will do it inexpensively (I get my half leg, bikini line and underarms done for €13,50 a time) and it along with exfoliation does reduce ingrown hairs.
