    Hi all,

After a LONG afternoon at A & E I've been given extremely strong antibiotics to take for the next 7 days. The doctor had a good look and said he felt that antibiotics had a high chance of clearing it up. He also advised me that if in 7 days it's still there, I will need to go back for the lancing, which is fine by me as he confirmed I would be put under anaesthetic.

I caused serious panic because they couldnt understand why my heart was beating so fast. Then when they told me I was being sent home with antibiotics my heart rate went back to normal :rotfl:

I'm having the rest of today and tomorrow off work and keeping pressure off it and hopefully it'll get better. He said that with the antibiotics it will stop it at least getting worse.

    Fingers crossed!!!!

    That's good news :)

I had to check back for an update, as after reading this thread yesterday I had the most awfully graphic dream last night! I really feel for you!

ooh glad to hear that. I read but didn't post yesterday but I was thinking about you as well. I also meant to say that it might also be worth taking a good multivit with probiotic. Multivit because boils can be associated with vitamin deficiencies and probiotic because you're on antibiotics so it's a good thing to do in any case. Can't do any harm.

I'm sp glad I read this thread - I get the blimmin things too so it is nice to know I'm not the only one - I thought i was just weird! I have PCOS so it is interesting to know there is a link, although since I have been on my healthy eating drive I haven't had one. Mine last for days too, evil things and so painful. I'm gonna try epsom salts and tea tree oil next time, never thought of that.

Hi all. Last night the whole thing started oozing (gross I know) and I've just applied some anti-inflammatory dressings which are being changed every 5 hours ish. This morning it's still a little swollen but fells 100% better. SO relieved I went down the route of antibiotics rather than lancing.

I'm now looking into laser hair removal treatment, so no more in-grown accidents for me!!!

 Cripes, was this caused by hair removal?

Good you're on the mend, anyway!

Bear in mind that 'permanent' laser hair removal isn't really 'permanent' though, it'll be an ongoing commitment. I'd definitely try the bha route though to keep your pores clear and stop any ingrown hairs from forming in the mean time. I know the 'Tend Skin' contains alcohol so not what you would want anywhere near your lady bits at the moment but it is proven to work on this exact thing. I know Palmers Cocoa Butter do an AHA/BHA moisturiser (in a blue bottle) too for if the area becomes dry after using Tend Skin.

I'd definitely consider the laser hair removal but you'll need to be realistic about it's permanency, it will only lessen the chance of you getting ingrown hairs, not eliminate them completely so you'll still need to look at an ongoing prevention method.

To the lady who asked about PCOS, my daughter has this and has a terrible time with cystic acne, one of the main symptoms of the disease so I can understand that the same would occur in any area where pores can become easily blocked and infected, not just the face area.

Thanks for the reply! I'm heading down to Boots today and buying as many antiseptic, anti in-grown hair, anti EVERYTHING to apply once all is healed well and good to hopefully prevent any further attacks. Its never been this bad before, but I have a feeling that being overweight isn't helping the situation as my thighs are quite large and it's gets really quite warm down there in the summer. The issue is as soon as I start going to the gym and eating healthy it all flares up again which just makes it a horrible circle. I just can't lose enough weight just by healthy eating :(

I'm only 22, and I feel like a complete monster at the moment. I see all these young women out and about and just envy them so much as they look like they never have to worry about such things!

What triggered the laser treatment question was a groupon deal this morning of £99 for 8 sessions, but I called Sk:n and asks them about prices and try charge nearer £700. I went on the companies website and it seems to be a training place for wannabe laser beauticians! No way an I have a 'trainee' doing ANYTHING down there! Something about the website is just so.... Cheap looking. The only two reviews I can find say its awful! So I won't be spending my hard earned cash on this company.

Hi Coinxop, really glad to hear you are making progress. I have been following the thread and was relieved to see you'd gone to A and E and got it sorted out.

Having a big boil lanced under a general is not pleasant. A friend used to get them in a similar place to yours and it involves quite a recovery period and having the wound packed, dressings changed and so on. I hope the antibiotics work and it clears up fully. Best wishes.
