She said she felt that it was the size of a rugby ball deeper into my thought and said if I had left it I would probably have full blown septicima by Tuesday.

So much for the doctors surgery giving you an appointment for the 15th June, then  Thank goodness for walk-in clinics!!

Good luck for today, OP, sounds like you've been really unlucky this time with this boil thing. Hope it all goes well.

Oh God, that sounds so painful. I wonder if it's pilonidal sinus which is why it flares up so often. Hope they can get it sorted for you once and for all so you don't have to go through this again. Good luck.

  • I was about to suggest pilonidal sinus (infected ingrown hair), i had this many years ago and it was the most painful thing ever, i needed a general anesthetic to have it cleared out... Hope you feel better soon xx

Oh my lord - I hope you are ok! If I were you I'd complain to my GP practice manager about what happened as you could have had septicaemia by 15th!

My friend had EXACTLY the same thing. She went to A&E because she couldn't walk and they booked her in for the operation next day. Overnight it popped thankfully so she didn't need it in the end but she said it was pretty gross when it did pop!

I hope you are OK and feel better when you read this :)

It sounds like a pilonidal sinus! I've had 2 of them 7 years apart - once from perching on a wooden stool for extended periods at art college and once when I was nursing my newborn son and sitting in an armchair for hours at a time.

My doctor told me that they're very common in overweight hairy truck drivers (cheers!) The overweight I would concede to but definitely not hairy and I don't drive a lorry (although I know slim people that have had them as well). In my case it was more to do with pressure causing it than ingrowing hairs. I had to have them lanced and packed to drain them - the last time I had to spend 2 days in hospital and was put under a general anaesthetic to have it treated. Please don't leave it any longer, go to the walk in clinic or A&E, I was delirious with the poison and in agony before I went to get it seen the first time.

Just read your update, didn't see it before I posted . Thank god you went to see someone about it and hope it all goes well.

OP's in hospital having it lanced now!

Wishing you all the very best, OP. You've been through a tough time, hope you're soon feeling much more comfortable.

When you're better I'd do two things: change medical practice and complain in the very strongest terms to your current one for not giving you an appointment sooner than two weeks away.

Glad you got the help you needed eventually though, bottom's up! :D
