I posted this under a separate thread but thought worth copying onto this one.
Bought over £50 worth of wine & champagne in store, thought I would get 25% off and 750 points. Got the 25% off but not the points, asked CS and they said it was online only.
Returned all the wine for refund (have just ordered online and got 25% off plus free del and £10 off) and guess what....they refunded the full original price - so over £10 extra refunded. Only noticed after leaving the store - result!

  • If trading standards were told and investigated then Tesco can be fined £5000 or more for each offense of overcharging if it goes to Crown Court. The directors could also end up in prison as they were abetting ths overcharge.

DTD is there as a sweetener in the hope that no-one goes to trading standards. A 'normal' fine per overcharge is around £2,000. Just mention trading standards and they should make sure you get DTD. I avoid doing this in my local but would do elsewhere.

That being the case, why aren't other stores similarly worried and have a good refund/overcharge policy?

Just returned from a yellow label shop. Stir fry beef was reduced to 80p per pack from 4GBP. Bought the last 2 packs (meat still looked fine) and it went through under the '2 items for 7, 3 for 10' offer so got a pound off. Net result - 60p for 2 decent packs of beef.
Also bought ring donuts that were reduced from 1.60 to 48p. The yellow label hadn't been placed over the original barcode so went through at full price. Went to CS and got 1.12 back - didn't have the heart to insist on DTD which would have given me 2.24 - a sizeable 1.76 GBP profit.

The profit on te donuts would only have been 64p

You paid £1.60 for them and would have got back £2.24

Tesco Extra - Leeds Seacroft have LG 42" TVs right by the Tech Support desk, believe these are marked up at £418 - think its this one http://www.tesco.com/direct/lg-42lm3400-led-cinema-3d-tv-42-inch/653-3030.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=653-3030
The £130 discount according to the SEL ended 17/04/13.

    Possible DTD of £260?

Probably not as on the website they are £418 (save £130) so will probably scan at that. It just seems to be an offer that has rolled over.

If the SEL said £288 instead of £418 (same as website) then you'd be onto something.

Please try and keep this thread for reporting of misprices (and questions about them) and not for chat or moans about Tesco in general. Otherwise the important bits of information get lost amongst the chatter and people can't find the info they need quickly and easily. Thanks :)
