Hi, sorry but after reading the above and reading your signature :-

I hope you don't think I'm being rude.:DI do try to keep up but sometimes life gets in the way.
I'm just a penny short of a pound. Peace and Love.
I've joined the 5:2 club cos mrT made me eat 1p chocolate.0 -
So I just got home and after being forced not to use the self services and then rooting the receipt out of the bin (pitfalls of shopping with a male friend - benefits= he carried the shopping in for me (-: ) I have found that I have been yet again overcharged by Mr T. Ecover is supposed to be on 2 for £3 (washing up liquid). Question is, it's only come up as 'washing up liquid' on the receipt - it doesn't even show a bar code. Can I take it back tomorrow and ask for the difference back (or I can try DTD but that seems to be a bit hit and miss) or do you have to do it before you leave the store? How will they know I've taken back the correct product - was suprised at how little information they give o the receipts - it obviously hadn't recognised it as Ecover. Checked the website and the promotion is running for a monht. TIA.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Take both Ecovers back together with your receipt and they will scan the barcode on the product you bought which should match up with the price you paid. Ask them to check and as long as the products you bought match the offer, they will refund the difference. Ask for DTD if it is a mispricing error.

Thanks, I'll report back how I got on later...they are pretty slack at my Tescos customer service so not holding out much hope for the DTD. :cool:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

How rude!!! :rotfl:
Disappointed I got that so wrong - not quite as good a price as I thought but still not too bad I suppose. I guess I am displaying my ignorance of maths/logic...There is no excuse for rudeness. Ignorance on the other hand is excusable – you don’t know what you’re talking about.0 -

I was in a Tesco in Stoke yesterday afternoon and they had Rump Steak half price at £7.50/kg, but only packs of two with the 'half price' stickers/prices. The SEL didn't specify the number of steaks (just said "Tesco Rump Steak half price £15.00 £7.50"). There was one pack of single rump steaks, with the product label showing £15/kg. I bought a pack of two (half price) and the single pack.
The checkout obviously charged the single pack at £15/kg. I went to the customer service & explained. I escorted them to and pointed out the SEL. They insisted the single pack had been put there by a customer by mistake and wasn't in the deal, which was just for packs of two steaks. I dug my heels in and told them the SEL doesn't specify how many steaks are in the pack, just that Tesco rump steak is £7.50/kg. She called over a shelf stacker, asked her to confirm that the single packs weren't in the offer (hmmm...leading question), and the stacker did just that, adding that single packs were stacked somewhere else. "Where?" I asked. They pretended to look around the beef section and, of course, couldn't find a separate space for single packs of rump. The CSA then agreed to put through the steak at half price 'as a goodwill gesture'. Off we walked back to the CS desk.
As she was putting the adjustment through, I chirped in with "And I get double the difference, yes?". This was akin to lighting the blue touchpaper. In her view, I most certainly did not. She was doing me a favour (!) and I definitely wasn't entitled to DtD. I then read to her the DtD section of the customer service pledge thing behind the desk. Fuming, she stroppily told me that it was NOT a mislabel - it was just put in the wrong place by a customer. I stayed very calm (I was actually dying to laugh) and repeated that the SEL just said Tesco Rump Steak half price, from £15/kg to £7.50/kg, that there wasn't another place the steak could have been misplaced from, and Tesco should honour their promises. She refused, so I asked for a full refund of the single steak, handed it her back, and asked for the phone number for their central customer services. As she was getting me a leaflet, a chap appeared and asked what was the matter. His badge said he was the Meat, Poultry & Fish Manager (or somesuch). The customer services woman explained her version. I explained the truth (that it was a mislabel and I should get the product for half the price charged, then DtD). He obviously agreed with her version, but said that this time he'd make a gesture and give DtD. The woman, still steaming and with lips drawn tight, said "but that makes it free". The bloke agreed but told her to refund the full amount and give me the steak.
At this point, I'm feeling good. I could walk away with my free steak, but I don't. I tell him I think it's a disgrace that Tesco initially refused to honour their customer service pledge and have only now done so reluctantly, after I've spent 10 minutes standing my ground, but still he's not acknowledged it was Tesco's mistake. He tried to trot out the "but it's not really a Tesco mistake" line but I walked off at this point.
I was amazed at the lengths that Tesco staff would go to to avoid admitting that Tesco had made a tiny mistake and pay the customer off with a couple of quid. It doesn't come out of their bloody pocket, and to not do so antagonises the customer to such a point they might never shop in Tesco again. Counter-productive,longer term.
Of course I was trying it on. I know this won't sit well with some on here, but I view using Tesco's own systems to screw them over as a bit of a sport. I'll also point out that I was travelling back from a meeting yesterday and live nowhere near Stoke. I really wouldn't be so obstinate and bolshy in my own local branch.0
