Don't think DTD applies online but I stand corrected if it does.

1 - you buy the item noting the pack price and the Self Edge Label (SEL) or promotional poster. I usually take a photo on my phone as proof.

2 once bought go to customer services and say you've not been charged correctly.

3 They will go off and check the offer (and probably clear the shelves). They should then offer you the difference between what you paid and what you should have paid and then double this difference.

4 If they don't - point out the big blue poster behind the Customer Service desk that says "if things don't add up we will give you double the difference"

5 If they still won't give you DTD then ask them to phone HO or phone Customer Services yourself.

One or two problems with this.

DO NOT take a picture on your phone or whatever, this shows intent and they are not happy with intentional DTD.

When they go to check the SEL GO WITH THEM. SELs have been known to disappear, some CSAs are less than happy with paying out DTD so prefer to make the problem go away. Disguise this as saying you want to save them time and know where you got it from.

Above ALL, be nice, do not look for an argument, most CSAs will happily explain that you are due DTD, as above with the ones that do not want to do so, simply point out the sign behind them. They may come up with excuses, but DTD applies whatever they say.

I would say getting a photograph is good JUST in case they deny it all and try to fob you off but don't go guns blazing saying look I took a photo etc etc

The best way to do it is to go and put shopping in car, wait a minute, get you receipt and the relevant items and go back into store. ignore cust services and go to shelf. this is so you can check label yourself- 'make sure your not going mad' take a photo at his point, and then go to cust services. you can then say that you have been back and checked the label, again, look i just snapped this- can show picture if you want then you can let them sort it out. they can check cctv if they want and it will show what you did. you can also show timestamp of photo was after taken after time on receipt so back up what you say. i usually dont take a photo but lead off with 'letme show you where it is' so they cant hide sel.

Sent my husband in to get a couple of steaks this evening. Went through at full price so advised him to go to Customer Services. They refused point blank to honour the DTD and just gave him a refund. Not impressed as I quite fancied a nice piece of steak. :(
