    What a great thread!!!!

I have been raised around family businesses and my parents are now in their third year of owing their own construction company back in Oz.

My OH and I would love to have our own business one day. We have very different skills so am not sure what we could do.

It is a dream though (bl**dy hard work too I know)

I run a printing business. We specialise in pvc business cards, photo id, loyalty cards ect. We also have a great new product called a "keeper" this product allows you for only £1 to have any photograph you want printed onto a credit card sized piece of pvc. Why you ask, well the products longevity is greater and more robust than those of us who carry around normal photographs in our wallet.

We also provide normal printed paper products and have recently moved into the garment printing/embroidering sector

I love running this business, although it can at times be a steep hill to climb

    Regards

    Pete

I run my own 'party-plan' jewellery business - I'm relatively new to it as I have only done a handful (3! LOL!) of parties but the feedback I have had so far has been second to none - every party I have had has had someone phone me up afterwards asking for another piece of jewellery that they saw at the party and want to now buy cos they have been thinking about it!

I am really trying to do something a bit different and got a bit upset when someone recently asked why I am doing it if you can buy cheap jewellery at asda... it was a bloke who has no idea about jewellery so I wasn't offended like I would be if everyone was saying that to me - but I found it a useful comment to take on board to think --- so WHY would people want to buy jewellery from me when they can buy it at asda??

I'm not a fashion designer and I buy the jewellery in wholesale and then display it at peoples homes, but the feedback I have had so far is that its lovely quality and reasonably priced!

I need to get some printing done, I want to print some blank "invites" so that people can take a handful and dish them out to their guests before a party - I want it to look professional so was going to get them printed professionally rather than at home on my PC, but is this a cost that I really need to be spending? I'm not too sure!??

Good luck everyone!! Nice to meet u all :)

Definately is, you can get 5000 A6 double sided flyers printed professionally (providing you can take care of the design yourself) for less than £100.

Thanks Kilty - I was thinking it was worth the while - would anywhere do smaller amounts than that for the same sort of cost per invite? Only I want to do a test run to ensure I have the right info on it at first and see what peoples thoughts are etc... £100 is a bit of an outlay, maybe half that cost would be okay for now? Thanks for the advice!!! :D
