Hi all,
I make wire knitted jewellery (sounds odd but looks great!) amongst other things. I also take photos and turn them into cards.
I work full time so at the moment it's only a 'hobby' business. Just working on getting more stock made so that I can sell at a few craft fairs this summer.0 -
I'm here on behalf of dh, Si, who is setting up on his own as a Fork Lift Truck instructor/NVQ assessor at the moment. He's busy doing 'stuff' while I do his PA bit as well as looking after Daisy (23months) and Lilian (14wks). Unpaid, natch.
Very scary (esp as we're to the knuckle money-wise..) but I'm sure working hard is much more rewarding if it's for yourself instead of a fat man with sweaty armpits and a big car....:p
Good luck to everyone setting up and already there, and thanks OP for very interesting thread!

my darling wife shrunk one of my wool jumpers in the wash (setting to high) four years ago, and found she had "felted wool".She turned it into a hat and a bag !. Today she is sending 6 felted teddy bears to a wholesaler in the U.S.A. each one retails around $240.She supplies among others Northlink Ferries with her hats, bags, scarves, slipperboots and mittens.
She buys her jumpers now, and they get sent in sacks from Oxfam's main warehouse, so she does her bit for recycling and charity.
We are fortunate also in the fact that we live on a remote island and that helps considerably with marketing.
Me, well i'm just her gopher:oliving on the "edge"0 -
I ran a network cabling business for 15 years, lost it when I got divorced. I am now in the process of setting up my own business selling organic/ethically sourced gift baskets.
