I was just over in the other place, and I spotted this picture of what could very well be two mountain lions loose in the Essex countryside. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

you asking me if i like mushrooms offends me, therefore, I must report this to admin and they MUST delete this thread entirely.
that is the rule apparently.0 -
I'll suggest the GDB method of giving up smoking, then.
Start off by simply switching to a pipe. You'll find that the whole process of cleaning it, filling it, and fiddling with it means that you smoke less. Also, unlike cigarettes, it goes out as soon as you stop smoking it. A good one traps a lot of the tar, so it's healthier, and the smoke has a different acidity, so you don't need to inhale.
Then after a while, you just stop lighting it, but you can continue with the fiddling, cleaning etc.
Then just stop.
Yes lots of different ways of trying to stop.
I tried gum, patches, slowly reducing the amount I smoked, but could never quite kick the habit.
Eventually, I just marked a day in the calender to just stop smoking completely. I smoked my last ciggy the night before. I have never smoked since. First few weeks were quite hard, especially when I was going out on a night out.
The ciggy money I was salting away was the incentive that kept me going.0 -

You're my favourite equine poster and I suspect the same could be said of many others here.
Good luck with getting the thread pulled, I suspect it won't happen but you never know.
You could just join in with the harmless chit chat and supportive stuff if you wanted. You'd be very welcome I'm sure. It's not a prerequisite of the Interwebs that one is angry all the time. I'm a Libertarian too but am really not very cross about stuff.0 -

I found that cigarette substitutes were hopeless as they didn't address the central issue which was nicotine addiction.
Cold turkey worked for me on approximately the 100th attempt at quitting.0 -

Maybe that is right but we are still none the wiser as to whether you are pro or anti mushroom, please clarify.0 -
Cold Turkey defo the way to go.
Tis true, alas. As we discussed some months ago, it may take many attempts to give up but it's vital to keep trying. Took me 30 attempts.
Lydia, we're all coming down with colds as DS has gone back to school and DD has started at uni.
I gave up smoking successfully while I had a cold. It made smoking horrible and I thought I might as well get this cold to do me some good for a change, and it helped immensely through the first weeks making them much less difficult.
