    I've been Money Tipped!
I feel alright again today you know.

I am having a verboten cup of coffee, have been to the shops, dopne the chickens......it's almost back to normal schedule. my eye is swollen, not the back bit, but the 'normal' front bit...swollen about half shut so that's weird.

Trying to decide what colour to paint some wooden furniture and getting nowhere in decision making.

    And......

We have just lit the woodburner. Now you know things have a different vibe here, not only have I had it on a few nights but a day time beore October. It's like someone else's home!

Suddenly it all makes sense - some on free cycle wants to come and trim my laurel (not a euphemism) for me this weekend and I didn't know why....they have a jewish sounding surname...bingo.

Wish we knew Jewish people locally, I have some beautiful
Things I am about to cut back that would look decoratively and seasonally lovely.

I feel that now is the time to try again (about 50th time lucky)

The best I've managed to do is 3 days last year, and that was because I was too ill to get up and go to the shop, when we were out.

It took me a few attempts before I managed to give up.

I think the most important factor for me when I was attempting to give up was the amount of money I was able to save. Smoking is not a cheap pastime.

Been of the cigs for many years now.

    Good luck!

There's a horrible cold going round at my school. Yesterday it got me. :(

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

One incentive that works really well is to put the ciggy money aside to save for something that's a treat for you (ie not a necessity). In my case I was into hifi and I saw someone selling their bang and olufson receiver and turntable for £65 (this was 1983). Lovely jubbly!

Phew. I am actually DOING stuff. Feels good, tiring but good. Weeded the first few feet of the long border and top dressed it with manure. Having a break then going out to help dh tidy up the lime trees next.

I think, my friends, I might be taking steps back into the land of the living.....:)

If I had the lead that links my camera to the laptop with me, I could show you some interesting Succahs round here, including ones perched on the top of penthouses.
and the weather is warm enough to eat outside :)

Isn't it a question of retrieving last years and remembering how you put it together, or is an upgrade required?

Yes, I made ours, but I can never remember exactly how it goes together, plus it takes quite a bit of time to do. Plus it will need to be altered as the roof sat on an old bit of the house that has now been removed.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'll suggest the GDB method of giving up smoking, then.

Start off by simply switching to a pipe. You'll find that the whole process of cleaning it, filling it, and fiddling with it means that you smoke less. Also, unlike cigarettes, it goes out as soon as you stop smoking it. A good one traps a lot of the tar, so it's healthier, and the smoke has a different acidity, so you don't need to inhale.

Then after a while, you just stop lighting it, but you can continue with the fiddling, cleaning etc.

    Then just stop.

    Yes I agree.

I used to put all my ciggy money in a jar. That money paid for a 2 week holiday that I'd never have been able to afford if I'd been smoking.
