    Hello NP,

I'm in for Stoptober, and have started a 'membership club' for anyone else that wants to give up smoking for a month with us.

For every NP to join, I'll give £10 to the MSE charity (Martin can verify this later on)

Good luck CK. This NP is a non-smoker, but I wish you well with your efforts, as well as those of any NP who decides to give Stoptober a go.

Here's a list of all current NPs here apart from lurkers who can't be verified I'm afraid, unless they thanked a post before the current date.

You can only give up the cigs when you're ready - and forcing it with any form of challenge can amplify any feelings of failure that result if .... you fail. So I'm out.

Dave - hope things are going well. Do keep dropping in when you can, and we'll look forward to seeing more of you when things slow down for the winter.

    Thanks.:)

Things are going OK, but it's been a bit manic this summer (?) and our targets have slipped a bit. :o

For those who remember, we had some plans drawn-up to give our bungalow a partial first floor + other improvements. After the council's planning officer made negative noises, they passed them without any conditions, but by then we'd got cold feet! :o:o

So, sensible hats on, we asked our architect to cobble part of Plan A to a ground floor extension to make a Plan B. This will give us a decent house and allow other changes too, which are more important than being able to see a bit further! ;)

I'm not a smoker.:D I used to be, but that was 25 years ago, on another planet.

Good luck, lir. :) ......and CK.

what i don't get about stoptober is why it only lasts for 28 days.

i should think that i will be able to "give up" for 28 days of stoptober, as that still gives me 3 friday nights to go out binge drinking and smoke about 40.

Looks like a plan. I am currently managing to not smoke for 12 hours/day.... and this is now easier than it was as I don't panic about getting "the last fag of the night" in so late as I know I can make it through the night .. and in the mornings, I'm happy to have a lie in of an hour or so, rather than rushing out at first light :)

Woke up this morning at 7:30 and thought "ooh, it's dark ...." but got up anyway and brushed my teeth/washed ... and got back into bed for a 20 minute lie down..... but it wasn't getting any lighter. Then I realised it was 1:45 and not 7:45.... and then I couldn't get to sleep again until 5am.

    :)
