I think they were hoping we would be some of that provision, but we just cannot be. Also, my parents, now separated, cannot really spare anything, not when adaquate cheaper alternative is here in Uk. The two places she got are really good universities, and imo both would be good for her in other ways besides academic, and possibly, in fact certainly, as oimportant as academic ways.
To state the obvious this is appalling. What would possess a set of parents to mislead their young adult in this way?0 -

I am cross, so my response is probably unbalanced but dElusion, self righteousness, a lifetime of leaching upon others, misplaced snobbery, a sense of entitlement and disconnect from the real world. Amoung other unattractive things.
The really sad thing is only i seem to be fuming about it. Dh says it is sad but not entirely unsurprising and my parents just seem to be metaphorically sticking their fingers in their ears and going 'lalalalalala'. Its a symptom of an issue that started way before t he dns were born, way before i was and which is to late to resolve but could be handled better so it was not handed along the generations. Hopefully it won't be any way.0 -

A similar thing happened to one of my friends. She was a talented artist, extremely bright and had everything going for her.
Then after she had proved she could do the work and was getting the grades to get into art and design college, her divorced parents refused to help with fees, her mum as she had a new family and husband (the stepdad didn't really like my friend) and her dad because he thought it was the responsibility of her mum and new stepdad.
She couldn't do it herself (think the help was different back then), so couldn't go....the end result was she went completely off the rails, walked out of all her O levels without writing a word (apart from her name) and got involved with drugs.
She has also never done another piece of art work or a clothing design since, a real shame as she had amazing talent. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Arm's giving me gyp. It started about 3 weeks ago, I put it down to pulling a muscle in my shoulder as I'd lugged stuff to the beach in a bag.... muscle/shoulder hurt for about a week but recovered, but ever since then I've had numbness/vague pins/needles down that arm and 2-3 fingers. Arm/hand etc fully functional, just if I touch them I can tell there's numbness/fuzziness.
Well, tonight it's kind of buzzing.... the pins/needles are tingling constantly. Keep putting my hand onto cold things to try to reduce the annoyance.
Do you think I'll die of this?0 -
It's becoming much more irritating now.... the b4stard. Fully functional, just weird.
Legs are randomly getting pins/needles too now. Googled for some kind of a walk in centre, but can't find anything.
Google says I'll live and it's nothing to worry about/ignore it. On other news, I googled my sore leg and found myself on animal health pages and syphillis pages.... Google doesn't always tell the truth does it!0 -
