Slimming world never worked for me, for one thing, their syns system (I always thought it was sins...but then I had never seen it written down), has a negative impact on me and makes me want to rebel, I prefer to class them as treats. For another, I don't like enough on the green menu to be able to combine it properly.
WeightWatchers worked better for me but then these things are always swings and roundabouts, what works for one, may not work for another. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Yep, i know all about them, but those sort of plans won't work for me as stands with my exceptionally low basal metabolism you see. Before i was ill and put on weight i was very slim, but not obscenely so which is odd with the amount of i did and the amount i ate then (very unhealthy and not to be recommended either).
I do not need 'free foods' psychologically.0 -
Or, you can look at the new Hairy Bikers' Hairy Dieters programme - and recipes. Pies at 330 calories apiece
Curries.... and realy scoffy food
They didn't mention lettuce or salad once

Just found out dn got great results! 2 As and 2 Astars. Very peound of her. However, have also found out she is not going to her uni of choice as family cannot afford fees despite the two grants she was awarded. Truely gutting for her, but we cannot afford to contribute to the shortfall, and she is turning down her offers to two uk universities (one a nice teen is goiong to in london) and one where the bagpipes play, both of whoch i think would be great, and she is going to reapply for oxbridge next year.
I am so cross on her behalf that her parents have lead her up hope's garden path to drop this bombshell, but i have a feeling she knew more than we did.( we believed the money was available from a source as its what we were always told). The other one also wanted a US uni, so at least spthat one has seen the way the cookie is going to crumble and has some rime to reassess her options.
So, she is taking a gap year.
Its hard enough without dealing with carp like that, imo, at that age. I am so furious with her parents i could scratch their eyes out. Not for not affording it, but for telling her that it would be possible.0 -

Did you see the programme last night? I thought the food looked pretty nice, and not too 'diet'.0 -

Congrats to her lir. That is really rough, and like you said - not because they can't afford, but that they led her to believe it was possible. Were they not anticipating that she would get the grades?
Silvercar - I really feel for you and your DS. It must be even more tough missing the grades by such a small margin. Fingers crossed that the remarks go his way.0 -

Yes, they thought she would get the grades. They thought someone else/other peoplpe in the family would stump up to cover the shortfall. I think they were hoping we would be some of that provision, but we just cannot be. Also, my parents, now separated, cannot really spare anything, not when adaquate cheaper alternative is here in Uk. The two places she got are really good universities, and imo both would be good for her in other ways besides academic, and possibly, in fact certainly, as oimportant as academic ways.0 -

Oh dear. That's even worse! (that they expected others to find the money)0 -

LL didn't make me go out, I would have just felt like a spare part.... and I'd have cluttered up the dinky living room, making it look impossibly small.... so I chose to do a quick disappearing act.0
