Your parents arrive on the 16th?

Making the decision to DNR is not the same as making the decidion to die. I think God decides that and he's clearly thought better than to take her before now.

Please try to be objective, inform yourself, get at least two opinions, work out what is treatable and what is genuinely not and be careful of making someone you love suffer un-necessarily. To what degree is she likely to recover, what will her quality of life be in the short, medium and long term? You may have to be brave. Don't be afraid to ask questions because sometimes medical staff don't speak straight.

Seriously, do random grandkids have any authority to make decisions like that? I thought it had to be the next of kin?
    Awake again.

I see consultant number one on monday ( eyes). Neurologist week after.

Fc, you mean rollkur i think?

Yay! Typing much improved - good symptom. :)

I agree with everyone else - if your vision is coming and going, then even Monday is a long time to wait, and the week after is unacceptable.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Mind you, if I had a handy million in my pocket I wouldn't turn this one down :)http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33209905.html?premiumA=true
In fact if I won the lottery (which is hard when you never buy a ticket) I would buy this straight away...just to have for the weekends.

I love this kind of discussion. I find it fascinating how we all like such different things about houses. For a million quid I would want more than one reception room however enormous it was, and I wouldn't know what to do with a space that size anyway. It feels more like a car showroom than a living space to me. I would always want the master bedroom to be the biggest bedroom, too.

fc123 - surely for a million there are better views of the sea possible?
I do like the big windows though!

Personally, I just want somewhere nice to live that is my own. Ideally I'd like 2 reception rooms - on with the TV in, the other with the stereo/music/cd's etc in.
Struggling to see such a thing in the foreseeable at the mo though.

Got called into hosp this afternoon as GM had had a heart attack, been through resus etc.

I've been asked if I'll sign the equivalent to a DNR, to which I've refused and asked common sense to be applied e.g depending on circumstances, as if it happens in, say, 2-3 weeks time, we're looking at a completely different scenario to every few hours. I think that my parents should be the ones to make this decision, rather than myself.

    CK

I am sorry to hear your GM is poorly. As for DNR, what a terrble position for you to be in. If your GM rallies would she be able to make that decision for herself and let you know her wishes?

    Take care

Seconded .....Sundays should be not so busy. Let us know LIR.

Sundays usually have fewer Consultants on than in the week, and the rest of the Hospital medical staff will be off. GP surgeries are shut. Even if the footfall is less (and I doubt it will be), the Senior cover will be verrry thin.

Suggest a weekday morning about 9.30 am.
