Right... so, things are important to me; I like to keep things pristine. I like to not be interfered with ....

So, after great planning and execution, I achieved the status of "small beach tent owner" just yesterday and I gave it a trial run. I then had last night to plan today's outing... and I drove to Tesco and got a sandwich and a small lilo; I collected my shorts and sunglasses from the car and I packed my bag for the perfect day at the beach.

.... enter dog without a clue.

I'm installed in my tent, in a space that's not over-crowded - and suddenly this random dog cocked its leg up the side; luckily the owners shouted and I leapt up (nearly lost the front/top of my swimsuit) and grabbed my tent and the dog didn't pee on it.... there were 1-2 small wee marks though, but luckily I'd packed wet wipes. However, this caused a meltdown .... and that hypertension kicked in because I'd just walked in the hot sun down to that spot and erected my tent and blown up my lilo - all very slowly .... so the sudden leaping up and grabbing/moving my tent while trying to keep my bosoms covered was too much .... I felt god awful... I thought I was going to pass out/die.... I could see the water just 20' away and I decided I had to get in it to cool down as my temperature was going into the stratosphere. I made it (allbeit looking like I was drunk as I stumbled at first, then ploughed on).

Water was lovely!!! Went in a few times after that.

Anyway... meanwhile, back at the dog .... across the course of the afternoon the same dog managed to:
    - trample over a child's sandcastle
    - pee on the same child's sandcastle after he'd rebuilt it (then the child cried and howled, he was about 5) and all the owners said was a limp "sorry" followed by "it means he likes you". Pathetic.
    - pee'd on the chair leg of the couple sitting next to them, while the man was in the chair

It didn't occur ONCE to them to control the dog, or mind him properly.

I used to think not allowing dogs on beaches was just about the p00 they leave behind... but it's more than that I now know.

When I see OH, I think it's a couple who are living together and haven't married.

Interesting. When I see OH I think it's a couple who aren't married and may well be living together but might not be.
    Right...

Sounds a bit of a nightmare for all concerned. When you have a dog, you need to be a bit careful about choosing whether to take the dog with you to the beach or not, and if so what kind of beach - basically your control of your dog needs to be in proportion to the crowdedness of the beach (badly behaved dog = deserted beach, fully trained guide dog = crowded beach, and stages in between). Sounds as though this wasn't the right kind of beach for this dog, and this wasn't the right kind of dog for this beach. :(

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

That's hilarious. You and fir have such a delightfully mutual and un-bossing-each-other relationship.

Mostly I manage to follow your typos, lir, but the "lam" on the end of that sentence has lost me. Am I being dim?

That sounds like DD. She always seems to have plenty of energy... unless there's work to be done. ;)

Did you manage to work out her number and give her a call?
