It was half term this week here. They go back on Wednesday.

We’re just going into half term.

A week of no work = yay
A week of kids whilst OH is working, nay!

I don't think it can have been. All the exam boards had exams carrying on all this week, and won't have any next week, so I don't see how secondary schools, at least, can have had a different week of half term from the rest of the country. Generally, half terms in the autumn and spring vary from county to county and between independent schools, but the summer one is fixed by the exam boards to be the week with the bank holiday, and that's the same for everyone.

From the Cornwall county council website:
    Summer term 2012 (66 days)
    16 April - 24 July
    (Half term 04 - 08 June)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Sounds about right to me. If any county did have this as a half-term, the sixth formers at least would still be in school for exams. Expensive for the schools to staff and heat etc.

I have heard tell of schools having half term this week just ending so I would not reject PNs suggestion out of hand (and I'm not just saying that cos I fancy her)
    I think....

I agree. Some primary schools round here had half term this week, but all the secondary schools have half term next week.

Got a card from the postman saying we need to trot a mile tomorrow to the Post Office in the nearby post-town, to pay 50p for amissing stamp and £1 for an admin fee, Now I'm missing a parcel but the clues are strong that this isn't it.

So they can jolly well do what they like with it. The last time this happened it was a forgetful relative sending a card and didn't even put their name inside it!

DD and I have just been out to get a Chinese takeaway. We went to a different shop from our usual. There were two little girls in there, children of the owners, who live above the shop. They're aged 8 and 5, I later discovered. The little one showed us the origami boat her big sister had made for her out of newspaper, and the sparkly crown she'd made at school for the jubilee. DD showed them the soft toy dog she'd brought with us, and they came over to our side of the counter to stroke him. Within minutes, there were three little girls sitting on the windowsill, whispering secrets between two black-haired heads and one blonde, and for the first time in years, I didn't have to spend the entire wait for the food in reminding DD to be quiet and not make a nuisance of herself. Now we are home, she is saying she needs to go back there to get more takeaway very soon, so that she can see her new friends again, and enthusing at me about how nice they are. That sort of thing happens all the time when DD meets new children, but this evening it struck me as a contrast with the way missk was treated, so I thought I'd share the story with the NPs as an example of how it's not just us adult NPs who like making friends with people whether they look different from us or not.

Are you sure that is per month?

You should have a look as that sounds way too much. You can get free anytime calls (excluding mobiles) from £15.65.
To get it that low you have to pay the years line rental up front which is worth the saving.

    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com

The best options for broadband on a BT line is O2 or Plusnet

    http://www.o2.co.uk/broadband
    http://www.plus.net/broadband/

Plusnet starts at £6.49 per month for a 10GB package which is fine for a lowish user.

Without any special deals you shouldn't be paying any more than £22.14 for everything (excluding mobile calls and premium rate numbers)

I know micheals will have a far cheaper solution even if it may be a bit more complicated.

    It really is per month.:(

I will see what your links find for us.
